Monitor check......

Several people yesterday commented how they liked the red fabrics I showed.  Actually there isn't a red in the bunch.  I put the red/pink group from 2 days ago and a gray strip of fabric hoping the camera could pick up the true colors on the group on the right, rust, gold, fuchsia, purple and a few touches of green.  It still looks a little red in the photo but in real life it is rust and almost brown.  I guess you'll just have to take my word for it.  I know computer monitors aren't all alike and some will emphasize colors.  My really old laptop in the basement reads the colors pretty true as it is not as bright as the new computers.
I sewed the last 2 borders on the twin quilts.  I think they really needed a border to contain all of the shapes.
Here is the other one.  They won't get quilted right away because I have about 7 that need to be quilted first.  I had hand basted 2 several months ago and they are laying on my guest bed.  I don't like to fold them after they have been basted because the layer on the inside of the fold gets a big ridge in it and layers shift.  Since I don't have anywhere else to put them if I need the guest bed for a guest, they need to be quilted.  I also have a potential sale on another piece and need to finish it right away.

  1. I bet you have mixed feelings whenever a guest is due - excitement and pleasure for their visit, and reluctance to have to quilt whatever is on the bed!

  2. I always have trouble getting the true colors to come through - I have a laptop and the colors don't always look the same as they do on a desktop for some reason.

  3. Wanda, could you please do a post on your method of basting?

  4. 7 to quilt, sale piece to finish, and then the two fish quilts - you are busy!! I really like the fish fabric in both colorways.

  5. It sounds like you have your work cut out for you. Colors are so hard to capture - especially the purples.

  7. Most of us have taken classes in color and from what I learned, true red is hard to find. Most "reds" and even what we might call "pink" are shades and tones of orange-red, or red-violet. When thinking those names, it is easier to see 'no reds' in your grouping! Actually, all I see is that I am green with envy of your stash!

  8. Putting the gray strip in makes some difference but no matter what......I love all of them! You have the neatest fabric stash!

  9. I'm amazed at the difference in colours when I look at a photo on my laptop and then my desktop computer. Whatever the colours, those groupings of fabric are gorgeous!

  10. I'm like "Cathi" ... "whatever the colors those groupings of fabrics are gorgeous"

On my monitor many do show nice cherry red in them. (*._,*)

And the borders you added on the twin quilt tops, frame them perfectly. Your fabrics are so Montana... Just love them

  11. Cameras and computer monitors cannot replicate the human eye, despite their amazing capabilities!
