I was looking at the pile of quilts of mine that my daughter owns and spied this one. I don't think I have any other photos of it. I think it is from the mid 1990s. I made 2, one of them a miniature which I gave to a friend and this one. I was playing with leftovers again in the center. I had made a bunch of floral 9 patch blocks and the center is made from the remainder of the strip sets after cutting the blocks.
The only other photo I have of this is a digital made from a slide. Neither one is perfectly true to the color of the quilt but this one is better than the other one. This is from the same time period as the one above and is made from my favorite parts of 2 hand dyed fabrics from Melody Johnson when she was first selling her hand dyes. I met her in the early 1990s and own a large box full of her fabric that she dyed over the years while she still lived in IL.
Today is the last day I will be at the Ceil Gallery before heading for home. I have a class and will be free for meet and greet from 2:30-5. A few of you have been asking about the mug rugs. In the 4 days the gallery has been open since my show started we have sold 20. I think that is a pretty good start. One person bought 6 of them to use for gifts. The show runs until June 30.
Sounds like it's all been going well. Enjoy the last class. I hope the trip home is not too much of an anti-climax.
ReplyDeleteWanda, it sounds like you have had a great show. I hope the mug rugs sell out before the show ends.
ReplyDeleteI am thinking you will be glad to get home.
I actually think the quilt you show was ahead of it's time in design for the mid-90's wasn't it - you were thinking ahead of the crowd! it is very unique.
ReplyDeleteglad the mug rugs are selling too - great gifts for sure.

Have a great class today and a good trip home. It seems like youve had a pretty productive week.
ReplyDeleteI'd forgotten about Mel Johnson - I used to follow her blog until she moved. Thx for the link.
ReplyDeleteYou will come home to lovely weather, but no doubt you'll be watering your garden.
It sounds like you had a great showing. Will the quilts stay up for awhile after you leave? How much do you charge for you mug rugs? I think I would like to buy one.
ReplyDeleteIt sounds like you've had a really happy and successful week. Thanks for letting the rest of us share it with you.
ReplyDeleteHere's to another great class and then safe travels home.
ReplyDeleteBoth beautiful! So modern. So colorful. Loved your mug rugs. I'm so glad one came home with me :D
ReplyDeleteThis has been so much fun Wanda!! I feel as if I was there in person! I especially LOVED seeing you on the videos! Wow, now you are real and in the flesh for me!!
ReplyDeleteI sure liked what you were wearing in the video!!
I mentioned a few days ago... That your daughter and partner's Ciel Gallery will never be the same since your show. It has been pretty exciting on this end also, thanks for all you have shared with us.
ReplyDeleteHappy you went through your daughters pieces that you gave her in the '90's. I can certainly see how Vicki's talent came from her Mom. Love her work also.
Wishing you safe, safe, travels.

Wow, I like both of those! Is it even possible for you to make an ugly one??
ReplyDeleteIt sounds like you've had a marvellous time. Oh, how I wish I had been able to go there to see your glorious quilts in person and to meet you!
