Back yard report: Chippy is back and so is his brother (or wife). This is one of them. I know the photo is a little blurry but he just wouldn't stand still for a second. He didn't even get scared off by the squirrel. Notice the little red tips of the peonies coming up back there. I may get more blooms this year since the trees that gave me dense shade are gone.
Here is the other one hanging onto the feeder tube while he pulls out sunflower seeds. He (or she) didn't cooperate for the photo either.
You have heard of Chipmunk Cheeks? Well this guy has a mouthful! Look at the bulging cheek. He made many trips back to his family or his hiding place under my neighbor's back porch. Another day of 80 degrees when our average high would be 46 degrees. We will set a record of the number of days over 70 degrees in any March on record if this continues on through Sunday.
A-MA-ZING!!!!!!!! :o)

ReplyDeleteAbsolutely gorgeous!! Yes, I agree that the binding really needed to blend, it is the perfect finishing touch on this quilt. I just have to laugh at those chipmunk cheeks, I am sure he can fit much more in there too!!
ReplyDeleteIt's wonderful how you make the binding colors blend with the quilt top. Definitely took a lot of planning and effort. I would have never thought to do that! This one, like the others, is a beautiful piece of art. Thank you for sharing your.

The small thumbnail photos on my blog list are great teases for the larger photos I see when I visit the blogs. The enticing thumbnail for yours didn't quite prepare me for the blast of color and dimension and movement in Rainbow River. Wonderful! It's bound to be a show stopper!
ReplyDeleteYou're spot on about the multi-colored binding. Perfect!
This quilt is one of my top two favorites of all your quilts. I love how you chose to quilt it and the binding choices are perfect.
ReplyDeleteI LOVE IT!
The Rainbow River is stunning!!!! I love it.
ReplyDeleteThose chipmunk cheeks are HUGE!!!! Very cute.

Wow, Wanda. That quilt is truly a work of art. I can't imagine how many hours you spent puzzling that out, but it was worth every moment of it. I'm blown away.
ReplyDeleteCrazy about Rainbow River, Wanda.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous! I love how the colors move and change, with the primaries standing out a little more than the secondaries. Very beautiful!
ReplyDeleteI really like this one. Any thing Rainbow is a hit with me these days. The binding is well worth the extra effort.
ReplyDeleteStunning quilt Wanda! I love it. Great pictures of the Chipmunks, we don't have them.
ReplyDeleteWanda - I think this quilt is my most favorite of all the quilts I have seen on your blog, and I did not think I would have a favorite because I like them all. They are always so colorful, with clean, clear colors. Great job!
ReplyDeleteI'm thinking this one is going to have to take the top spot in the right hand corner of your blog Wanda! Too beautiful to put into words.
ReplyDeleteOh, Wanda, it is beautiful, and the binding - oh, my! Your attention to detail really shows in this. It is truly a work of art. I'm so glad it will be displayed so lots of people can see it and the other quilts you've created in person!
ReplyDeleteStunning!! I love all your quilts but this one is out of this world! Oh, how I wish we lived somewhere close to where your show will be -- I would love to see this one in person!
ReplyDeleteBeauiful quilt! I love the way the color changes across it and the multi colored binding is perfect!
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely stunning.
ReplyDeleteHi Wanda,
ReplyDeleteGreat looking quilt. I don't remember seeing it before (maybe it was hidden away, waiting for quilting?)
Did it take a lot of concentration to do the quilting this way (as shown on your last post)?

Wanda - simply beautiful!
ReplyDeleteTHIS quilt is awesome. I just love it! (your back yard critters are awfully cute, too!)
ReplyDeleteRainbow River is so beautiful! It should be in an art gallery! I hope you have a wall that will do it justice. Stunning!
ReplyDeleteIt is amazing how much a chipmunks cheeks can expand. They are out in full force at my house sitting under my feeder hoping that a seed will fall. Daffodils are blooming and iris are up a few inches. Spring is here.
ReplyDeleteI absolutely love the quilt. This one is really neat. Keep on sewing.
Absolutely LOVE this quilt--and your squirrel stories are priceless. Awoke this a.m. to 14 in. of snow. Love the way the grey squirrels bring their fluffy tails up over their heads to shelter themselves from the snow!

ReplyDeleteWanda,
ReplyDeleteThis Rainbow River is nothing less than pure art. This could be shown in an art gallery for sure. This is my favorite.

ReplyDeleteSorry Wanda - I guess I shouldn't blog before I've had my first cup of coffee!! Have a great day.
ReplyDeleteRainbow River is absolutely a work of art. I totally agree with those who have said it deserves its own wall. :) Great job, Wanda (as always!)....
