QOV quilt finish......

For this QOV quilt I took all of the leftover 2.5" and 3.5" strips of varying lengths of red/white/blue and pieced strips that I cut to 68" length.  Then I alternated the 2 sizes in several different ways to piece a quilt the required minimum size for a QOV. I call this style random plank as it reminds me of hardwood floor planks.  I put the binding and label on yesterday.  I also sewed the binding on Sparkling Stars and printed labels for 5 quilts.  I am going to a group meeting today and will take the hand sewing along.

  1. This is a fabulous quilt for the QOV! I think what I love most about it is the amount of scrappiness you have. Many different fabrics makes it much more interesting.

  5. This looks great, Wanda - sort of like those jelly roll quilts, but way better with the randomness and scrappiness. Is this a record month of finishes for you? Well done!

  6. I really like this QOV. It's bold, full of color, so many different fabrics. Reminds me of a plank floor. Also a flag. I imagine the picture does not do it justice. It's a quilt that one will pick up and use everyday.
BTW. Unbelievable how your Christmas flowers are still budding and blooming!

  9. What a great way to use up scraps. I have made quilts for "Aussie Heros" It is lovely to send quilts to the folk overseas.

  10. It sort of reminds me of the "Matrix" style computer code. Very striking quilt! And I do love using up those scraps, too.
