Another finish....is this title getting to be old news?
The name of this piece is 'Jumbled Library 2' and I finally made the decision on the binding fabric. I wanted it to be a neutral color and very narrow. The batik I chose goes from taupe brown to purple and has a little blue squiggly line in it. We didn't have any sun yesterday so I took this photo under fluorescent lights in my studio and it is pretty true for color. I will take another photo though when we get a sunny day. It finished at 28" x 29.5".
I took this photo back in 2008 when I had just finished sewing #2 top and on the right is 'Jumbled Library 1' which I finished in January 2007. My daughter owns it so it is already in North Carolina. Here is the post where I talked about #1 and showed all of the individual strip pieced sections that went into it.
Your blog title never tire me. I always know that there will be some nice eye candy waiting for me. Love your quilts and all the batiks. I think you are the "Batik Queeen".
ReplyDeleteI am with Frog Quilter... I never tire of your blog posts! Tons of creativity happening and it is evident here. Love the finished quilt!
ReplyDeleteI love this one too. I am getting into my "strings" phase I think. All I can think about is the different quilts I can make with my strings. I am going to have to be brave though and cut into some pieces to get a better variety. Maybe I will do that today!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful! I never get tired of the title, "Another Finish".
ReplyDeleteAnother finish as a title is never boring since it allows me to anticipate pictures of something you put together and what magical color and styles are pieced together with love.
ReplyDeleteI really love this quilt! I have a box of batik strings...I may have to try making something similar for myself! Thanks for the inspiration!
ReplyDeleteYour blog title is going the same way mine have this week with my Dones and another done. The difference is what you are getting done vs. what I am getting done! This quilt is beautiful!
ReplyDeleteThere's nothing like a deadline for motivation! It looks great!
ReplyDeleteWhen I see 'Another Finish' I get pretty excited. Can't wait to see how you pilled it all together with quilting and binding.
ReplyDeleteI didn't realize some of your strips were only 3/4" wide. I toss away strips that are not at least 1" wide. And I usually shy away from buying the darker batiks. But I see they are necessary to bring out the bright colors of the lighter batiks.
Love, love, love both of these little quilts. And hope you may have one or both in the NC's Charlotte June Art Showcase.
These quilts are works of art! Really inspiring!
ReplyDeleteThat's some intense quilting. And it is perfect. Your show is going to be incredible.
ReplyDeleteOh, no, now I have to go thru the 3/4" to 1 1/2" pieces I was about to throw away......
ReplyDeleteIt is beautiful, and Jumbled Library is a perfect title !
That title could never get old. I just love the name of this quilt as one can just picture it!
ReplyDeleteJust saw this on Pinterest--I love it!
ReplyDeleteI really like the way you quilted this.
ReplyDeleteLove the jumbled library quilts, and the name! Kind of looks like my bookshelves!
ReplyDeleteWanda - your work is NEVER old news! I absolutley love this series of finishes (the colors, the quilting, the choices, the whole process).
ReplyDeletePlease --- keep them coming!!!
I love the finish so bright and friendly.
