Still hand stitching......

I worked at the hand stitching of the binding on Crooked Cobblestones 3 but didn't quite finish it.  I wanted to sew the label into the seam allowance before the binding was totally done.  I have an HP label program where I designed my labels.  Since these quilts will be displayed at an art gallery I didn't get too wordy on the labels.  I said I designed the wall art but didn't say I made them.  In hindsight I wonder if I needed to say I made them too.
I could see a pink glow on the house across the street (east) from me so I grabbed my camera and looked out the west window.  I didn't see very many pretty sunsets when there were 7 trees in the way but now I have a view.
I have had several comments and emails asking about my crooked cobblestones.  I label each of my posts (at the bottom) and there is a Label List on my right sidebar.  Cobblestone Series is on the list so if you click on it you will be directed to all of the posts that show how I make the blocks, trim them, and design with them, and yes, they are my original design, but I'm sharing it with you.

  1. Wanda, this is so exciting! My two cents -- I'm sure it will be clear that you made them because it's your show in NC but if you were to remake labels in the future, I'd include on the label that the piece was "designed and created by...." or something similar.

I always think of that restaurant trick of "home baked" (frozen store bought pie was baked in restaurant) and "home made" (scratch!). Your quilts are "homemade" using the pie analogy. :-)

  2. Jan is right the designed and created sounds good. The labels are novel also with the picture on them. Chris

  3. Wanda I saw that same sunset as I drove into Chucago. It lit up the glass on the high rises and made them glow pink, like a fairy tale city. It's real hard to drive when distracted by pink high rises!

  4. Reading the other comments makes me sad that there is such trickery by so many people in creating. If you make it be proud, if you didn't don't claim it. The whining done, yes, you should have said something about having actually made the quilt. Sadly there are many people out there designing for people who have less pride in the finished result than the designer would have had.

  5. I would make new labels - "design and made" otherwise if someone buys a piece at the show they won't know for sure if you also made them.

  6. Wanda, I would urge you to remake the labels and definitely put your name on them all. Best wishes!

  7. Nature is amazing, isn't it. I like Laura's comment. It is very hard to concentrate on driving when you want to watch the beautiful, quickly changing sky. The exact thing will never be seen again, so you want to get your fill of it.

  8. I would probably put "designed and made by" on the label. It would be a shame if you did not get the credit for them.

What a gorgeous display of color!

  9. So many of us will not be able to go to your daughter's gallery for your show in June ... Your daily blog showing us your creations feels like we are a big part of this grand showing ahead.

Yes you should have added you hand made them also. Next time ... right ?

  10. Oh Wanda, your work deserves to be understood. YOU are the creator! I wish that you would redesign your labels to reflect that they are CREATED by yourself!
I never tire of your work OR those splendid pink sunsets!!!
And P.S. YES! Can you believe that I went all the way with an H King? My daughter has a california king bed ...

  11. I am fairly new at following blogs. I love yours! The sunset is beautiful. I am having trouble with your instructions. On my computer your posts go right across my whole screen. There is no sidebar. Do you know how I change this?
