I needed a change....

My poor embroidery machine has been neglected for a couple months so I embroidered a couple squares for a quilt.  Dad wasn't doing well when I visited him and that makes for a down day.  He didn't recognize me and was having some kind of problem with his legs.  He was really out of it the whole time I was there.  It is ups and downs all the time, a really good day and then a horrible day.  I hope I'm not just seeing a preview of what I'll be like in my old age.

On the quilting scene, I got another 2 rows of H's ditch quilted so I can put the binding on now and I will call it a finish for 2011 even though I'll probably have a few more H's left to quilt around.

  1. Sorry to hear about Dad's day. Yes, I can see how sad it is to watch your father when he is ill.

On a much lighter note, I love your embroidery machine. I am still sewing on my old Baby Lok which I call my new machine and it is almost 20 years old. LOL

  2. So sorry to hear about your dad. I hope things perk up a bit for you both. I know for me and probably the same for you quilting does take the bite out of a bad day.

  3. I have had a parent that does not recognize you and know first hand how heart breaking it is. I hope he gets better soon.

    Quilting/sewing does soothe the soul.

  4. It must be hard to see your Dad when he has a bad day. Hope he is better next time you go to visit.

  5. At his age it is to be expected, but must be painful none the less to walk in the door and have not know who you are - I'm not sure if I am ready for that when it starts with my mom - it hasn't yet, but I know it probably will one day.

  7. Sorry to hear that your dad had such a terrible day. A parent's health issues can really cast a pall on us when it's not a good day.

As for seeing a preview of what your old age might be like, I know it's hard not to worry and think, will that be me, but who among us can say what the future might bring. Just enjoy right now and the future will take care of itself.

  8. I uncovered my embroidery machine yesterday, too. I am being tempted by the $1 sale at Emb. Lib so if I indulge I will need to have some emb plans in place. ;-)

  10. Oh no, that's not good news about your Dad. Sorry to hear about it.

I'm still always in awe of how much you get done with all that you have going on.

  11. I agree with "Needled Mom"... these are tough days.
Hopefully your Dad will bounce back in a day or two. Just know I sure am thinking about you.

So how many quilts did you complete this past year ? I certainly would count your 'H' quilt... It is not 2012 till Sunday.

  12. The roller coaster gets tiresome but we still don't want the ride to end . . . hang in there!

So very glad you have your fabric to brighten even the hardest days.

(Love the way the H quilt is looking!)

  13. Hope your father feels better soon and has many good days this next year. It is tough being the care taker (been there). An embroidered quilt sounds like fun.

  14. Terrible when your dad doesn't know who you are, and even worse if you know it troubles him. I wish you the best, from one who's had some experience in that department.
