I finally got brave enough to sew the top and bottom borders. I had to take in about 6 seams to make the border fit. I don't think it is obvious that some of the 9 patches are narrower. I really like how it turned out and am glad I put the border on. I need to choose a backing right away and get the seam sewn in it and then it is more likely to get finished.
I made 2 more blocks and decided this one will be square. I see I didn't get the top right block positioned right, but it was late at night and I didn't want to go back down to the basement to take another photo. I will look for setting triangle fabric today and audition a few.
I think you are far too hard on yourself Wanda.
ReplyDeleteI would LOVE the quilt.
I really like the 9 patch border. The quilt is great. Remember, we are our own worst critics.
ReplyDeleteLoving both quilts! A fabulous finish!
ReplyDeleteIt's stunning! Great job!
ReplyDeleteIt's a BEAUTIFUL quilt, Wanda. I would have to keep this one in the same room with me so I could look at it often. Awesome. Great job.
ReplyDeleteExtra block beautiful, too.
Wanda, Walk away and relook at it after you take some time away from it. It will come to you and maybe you will b e happy with it. Both look great and only you can make it right. Chris
ReplyDeleteWanda, this quilt is absolutely gorgeous! I am so in love with it. I recently reminisced about my "Summer of Kaffe" in which I completed 4 tops. You far surpass that, and are an inspiration!

the quilts look great. We always notice where we have to take in a seam or two or three - but no one else will notice - I don't see anything off and would have to look and look to find it I'm sure.

Your quilt top is beautiful! I certainly couldn't tell which blocks were narrower than the others. Your quilt in the making is going to be another beauty.
ReplyDeleteOooh, I love that one! It's so rich and colourful that I just want to gaze at it for a while. I can't see which of the 9-patch blocks are narrower at all.
ReplyDeleteThat turned out great! If you didn't say anything about the 9-patches no one would ever know.
ReplyDeleteI think both are fantastic. you make amazing quilts!
ReplyDeleteThis is another great looking quilt. i think i see a block you adjusted,i am kidding. Looks good to me.Wig.
ReplyDeleteBy the way i am glad you put the nine patch border on.it makes this quilt.Wig.
ReplyDeleteOh my. I love the one on point! Jan
ReplyDeleteTwo more exuberant, spectacular quilts,WOW. I love both of these quilts. My favorite blocks are 9 patches and the 4 patch blocks are close behind. When using all of your wonderfulcolor combinations simple blocks are just perfect. Your crosses quilt is pretty spectacular too. Looking at your quilts sure brightens up my morning.
ReplyDeleteLovely. Both of them. Without your hint, I wouldn't have seen any irregularities. -- A recent picture of the second quilt is my desktop background.
ReplyDeleteOH I am just swooning over that top one....yes, well worth that border!!! Yes, a couple of times I had to seam up extra to make my tiny pieces in the border fit and no one notices!!
ReplyDeleteThe second photo is a real winner too!
You don't notice a thing! Lovely finished top.
ReplyDeleteLooks fabulous!
ReplyDeleteStunning! Both of them, but especially the one with the nine patches. What's a seam or two among friends? You rock, Wanda!
ReplyDeleteWhat an absolutely gorgeous quilt that grew into! I would never have noticed (and still haven't) that any of the blocks are pruned. The leftovers quilt is shaping up to be mighty pretty, too. You do such beautiful work. It's always good to drop by and see what you've been doing.
ReplyDeleteI LOVE IT!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteWOW!
" Another top finished "... Just Glorious !
ReplyDeleteAnd wow those blocks are just wonderful... such fun just checking in every day watching all your work in progress.
