In April one of my students in a finishing class had 1250 nine patch blocks which I helped her separate for 7 quilts. She hired me to cut the sashing pieces for 4 of them. This is 356 pieces 2.5" x 6.5" for each of 2 quilts.
I finished cutting another set the day of the class and cut the corner squares yesterday. I have one more set of strips to cut.
I figured out why I was so tired; I was getting a migraine. I wondered how I could have not gotten one with all of the weather changes we have had lately. Most of mine are triggered by barometric pressure changes.
Sorry to hear that you have a migraine. This weather is crazy. Hope you are feeling better soon. I also hope we get to see your student's finished nine patch quilts.
ReplyDeleteThat's a lot of nine patches and a lot of cutting, Wanda. I hope you're feeling much better and rested very soon.
ReplyDeleteI have had migraines since age 16. I was told they would stop after menopause. No such luck. Mine are also triggered by barometric pressure. We live in a bad part of the country for this. I enjoy your blog and read it daily.
ReplyDeleteMy headaches stopped (except for sinus( after my hysterectomy.
ReplyDeleteWow, do you cut all that with the rotary cutter? I could never do it all.
Nice to have the pieces pre cut for sure. Yes, my headaches are just like yours, they are triggered by the barometric changes too. Hope you are feeling better.
ReplyDeleteOver here, it is kind of similar; I can feel it in my bones. Dry storms in May -- something I cannot remember to have known in my youth.
ReplyDeleteThat's a heck of a lot of strips! ! !
ReplyDeleteNuts to that headache.
It's something we can DO WITH OUT ! !
Time for you to kick back for a while.

Where on earth did your student get 1250 9-patch blocks??? WOW..
ReplyDeleteHope that you are feeling better today Wanda. You get so much accomplished - Look at all those beautiful squares and sashing cut.
ReplyDeleteHappy weekend.
Regards,
Anna
Hi Wanda,
ReplyDeleteOK, my first thought was "those aren't Wanda colors"!
Love your finish shown yesterday; it's one of my favs. That black and white really pops the color, doesn't it?
Hope you are past the headache by now. More storms rolling through!

I hope the weather settles down soon -- as it seems like every day there's another front coming through!
ReplyDeleteI have the same reaction to changes in the barometric pressure. You certainly were productive despite not feeling well!
ReplyDeleteThat's a lot of cutting that you have been doing. I understand the headaches. I have COPD and have had bad breathing days for weeks now. Will it ever pass? I did my allergy meds and that has helped a little. Now we are going into a few day heat wave which is just as bad. Hope you feel better soon.
ReplyDeleteThat's a lot of cutting!
ReplyDeleteBut OMGosh I'm floored to know that you and others who've commented have migraines triggered by barometric pressure changes, I get them too and changes in the weather have been the only consistent I have figured out.
wow!
wow! a lot of nine patches. Sometimes I think that is what I need to do with a lot of my scraps - just cut them in squares and make nine patch blocks out of them.

That is an incredible amount of cutting. That gives me a headache just thinking about it! The weather is a funny thing, it makes my arthritis worse and I can hardly walk. But, I can sew:) Hope you feel better.
ReplyDeleteWOW never thought of hiring someone to cut the pieces...hmmmm...I like the piecing but the cutting...hmmm...great blog...came by way of a friend who has you on hers.
