Finally a little finishing going on here. I quilted this yesterday afternoon into evening.
I used my favorite wavy line grid.
The thread is a variegated with green, blue and orange in it. Now I have to search for a binding fabric that I like with both the border and the backing.
On one of my breaks from quilting I looked out the window and the Rose Breasted Grosbeaks were here.
There are 3 of them in this photo; the one on the right has his back to the camera. Between the one on the left and the one in the center you can see the spikes of my Jack in the Pulpit.
The cardinal kept trying to scare the Grosbeaks away but they held their ground.
The wavy lines are perfect and the Rose Breasted Grosbeaks are a wonderful treasure in your yard.
ReplyDeleteNice quilt Wanda, I am looking forward to the grosbeaks coming back here.

Great finish! The quilting is simple and works well for this. I definitely am a bird watcher. I have never seen a Rose Breasted Grosbeak, beautiful. Yesterday, we had a ton of Blue Jays, which is not normal for us. So it was delightful to see them.
ReplyDeletelove the birds - great finish on the quilt! nice to have one done isn't it or close anyhow as soon as you get that binding!

We get grosbeaks in our yard but not the rose ones. They are so pretty.
ReplyDeleteI like the size Bento box blocks. Did you follow a specific pattern for that one?
I t msut feel goo dto get one quilted.
I like the way you quilted the quilt.
ReplyDeleteYou get such lovely birds in the USA.
Love the quilt and that the quilting doesn't take over!
ReplyDeletewhat fun to see those birds. We're just now starting to see a few come to visit on the roof garden -- including some robins.
Love the Morris pattern! Very bold color combos, I like that. The birds are charming! Another new world species I never knew about.
ReplyDeleteAs usual you have been a very busy lady. I have not had any grosbeaks as of yet but now that you have spotted them I will have to really watch the feeder. Today I am putting my hummingbird feeder out and also the Oriole feeder. Happy sewing
ReplyDeleteHi Wanda,
ReplyDeleteI was just thinking about grosbeaks yesterday, then read your post today (maybe I'm psychic). And when I looked out at the feeder shortly after
, there was Mrs. Grosbeak, chewing away. I always thoughts the males arrived first, so they must be here, too!
Your quilt and quilting look marvelous!

Hi Wanda...after reading about your Grosbeaks, an hour later I looked out at my feeder here in Plano, and there is a Grosbeak. Never have seen one here before !!
ReplyDeleteWavy grids is my favorite pattern, too. I didn't know anyone else did it! Love the bird pictures, I guess I've never seen a grosbeak before. You always have such interesting stuff :-)
ReplyDeleteHi Wanda, Love the grosbeak pics. Have a great
ReplyDeleteday, sun's out!! jmhdwilagni
I love bird watching and we don't have the Grosbeaks here, so thank you for sharing them. :) I like the wavy line quilting.

Thanks for showing the wavy grid quilting. I have never seen it before and can't wait to try it. I'm a bird watcher on the west coast and I've never seen a cardinal or a grosbeak so thank you for that. We have lots of bluejays, woodpeckers, herons and eagles. Wish I was a better photographer like you.
ReplyDeleteThose are very pretty birds. We don't have either of those here.
ReplyDeleteI like your bento box quilt. It's a great pattern. I have one away being quilted at the moment. It is only the second quilt I have ever paid to have quilted so am wondering how whe will quilt it. ( I gave her pretty free licence to do as she saw fit. I suggested she do curves and things I'm not confident with.) ( yes I know I only need practise ! )
Fabulous photos of the birds.
ReplyDeleteCongrats on the quilting progress, too.
We've never seen the rose grosbeaks here. Probably too far south. That's a treat for me!
ReplyDeletelove the wavy quilting on this one. Our grosbeaks are here as well. They like to guard the bird feeder and chase other birds away. We've been seeing indigo buntings here for the last few days. They usually stay a week on their trip up north. Wishing you warm weather!
