One of the ladies who came to my house yesterday brought 3 quilt tops that she wondered if anyone wanted. I said I wasn't into old tops but bring them in. Then I saw that 2 of them are "H" quilts! Oh, my, I am into old quilt tops after all.
My long time readers will remember that I designed an "H" block and made a quilt top of Kaffe Fassett fabrics. In case you wonder why I'm so obsessed about "H", my last name starts with H and it is my nickname for a couple family members.I think the fabrics look like the 1900 - 1920 time period. The 2 tops are in excellent condition, are machine pieced with good seam allowances. I will machine quilt them and use them.
After company left I mowed half of my front yard. Then I decided I had done enough serious stuff for one day and went into playtime mode. I made all of these blocks last night.
The whole group from 2 nights of playing.
That is one great antique quilt top! It is just perfect for you too!! Love the little blocks that you are playing with just too cute.
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful top!
ReplyDeleteLove that antique top! It reminds me that I was going to make an 'H' quilt. But not right now. I am on a finishing roll. But those little blocks are so cute and I hear them calling me. I think I will make few of those today.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous H blocks.
ReplyDeleteI'm doing liberated batik log cabins too.
Love your antique top! Are you saying... you beat Bonnie Hunter to that top??? She's the antique queen, LOL.
ReplyDeleteHave fun with your blocks, they're lovely as usual.

Love the way the antique top looks. I would finish it off and use it too. The fabrics are a lovely example of sewing history.
ReplyDeleteI love the H quilt. I did a baby H quilt. My first name starts with H.
ReplyDeleteI confess that I don't get excited about antique quilts. I realize they are treasures and should be cherished, but visually, they don't do much for me. Now those blocks in the bottom, they excite me!!!
ReplyDeleteI'm glad to hear that you are going to finish the antique quilt tops. Thanks for sharing the photos. It's a good thing when antique quilts are saved to show to another generation of quilters. Enjoy yourself!
ReplyDeleteThe H quilt is perfect for you!!! I'm glad she brought it. The blocks look terrific too.
ReplyDeleteThe H quilt is just too much fun! It would make me smile every time I looked at it.

What a wonderful sequence of serendipitious events! Those H quilts have found their forever homes with you . . .
ReplyDeleteTwo H quilts, what a find! And thank you for saying aloud that you're not into old tops -- I love the history and idea of them, but I'm not really into them, either.
ReplyDeleteOh, I love the fabrics in that H quilt!
ReplyDeleteI must keep the H blocks in mind as my middle name and my surname start with H too ! Thanks.
ReplyDeleteWhat fun -- those H tops were meant for you!
ReplyDeleteI always think it is interesting when a quilt top from the past suddenly appears. Don't you wonder where it has been all these years? I can see that you have been quite busy sewing. I better get my butt in gear and get back to the couple of quilts that I am working on.
ReplyDeleteI love the "H" quilt! I am like you--love the "H" quilts because of my last name. I am going to have to make one of these.
ReplyDeleteMy Dad went by "H" even to the grands.... and someone mentioned a baby quilt..... these days with many babies named FOR SURE before they appear would be fun to do an H quilt the one... and I can do a nine patch just fine!
