QOV sew in day in Batavia, IL

I spent the day yesterday getting some of the quilt tops ready for quilters to pick up today at our QOV sew in.  As I have mentioned before we work with fabric donated by a lot of people, lots of small yardage pieces so most of our quilts are scrap quilts.  I pieced a back for this one too, the same fabric as the border which I purchased on sale a few months ago.

Our weather went from the high 70s on Sunday to the 40s yesterday.  It must be spring!

  2. I like making scrap quilts, so that appeals to me.
Our weather got to the 80's yesterday but it has dropped this morning to 43. Typical spring.

  3. Very nice design. Just a few days ago we were in the 90s. This morning it is 37 degrees. You're right, it must be spring!

  4. Great quilt for scraps. We were up to almost 90 and are supposed to be back to around 55 by the end of the week. Yep, definitely spring.

  5. It sounds like a great time, piecing scrap quilts and enjoying being with other quilters.

  6. I wish the 70 degree weather would have lasted but alas Spring is back and we will have to wait for Summer. I love working with scraps and I am trying not to buy fabric for awhile but then I need somthing to finish a quilt I am working on. I am always trying to get rid of and buying more.

  9. Hey, it even went down into the 40s way down here in the Deep South. But it is bouncing back up to the 80s tomorrow, I hope.

What size are your blocks in this quilt? I am making a 12" block for a queen size quilt for my granddaughters wedding. I can't decide if to sash the blocks or just put together like you did. I am using the friendship star pattern with solids on the four corners and mixed for the star. I was afraid to mix the blocks or to sash. Colors are browns, tans, yellows(lenty of those) and blues and some green. Love to hear from you. Thanks! MGrubbs Covington, Ga.

Hi! Forgot to say guests will be signing the solid blocks on corners in the Friendship Star quilt. Thanks! Mgrubbs of Covington, Ga. m423grubbs@hotmail.com
