It's zig zag day......

I sewed this little piece and now have to decide if it has a purpose.  It could be a doll quilt, but I don't have dolls.  It could be a little wallhanging, which might mean it needs a border, but maybe not.  Decisions......
This one is all sewn together now and waiting to be trimmed.  I could have filled in with setting triangles, but I thought that would be distracting to the design.  It will be about 51" wide and I think about 76" long.  I have a gray/black/white print for the back of this quilt.

  1. I love your zig zags, especially the second one!

  2. If you're not going to use setting triangles, I will be especially interested to see how you bind it -- particularly those inside corners. I've seen binding that went around inside corners, but have never figured out a way to do it well. So I hope you'll show some close-up pictures of that part, when the time comes.

  3. Oh I like these! For the little quilt, how about a narrow dark binding (and no border).

I'm also curious about what plans you have for the larger quilt if you're not going to use setting triangles. Can't wait to see it. I love the yellow in that quilt.

  4. Wanda! Both are great. I love little doll quilts for hanging around the house and oh holy great zig zags but I'm head over heels with this 2nd one. The way you used the greys is ama-ZING!

  5. I really like the top one. I think it looks like a lot of little colorful hearts all lined up. It made me smile.

  6. I love this pattern. I have used it a couple of times and you can make it look different every time with your choice of color. Of course you have to like making triangles!

  9. The little one could come live with me as a topper for the end table next to DH's recliner (no borders needed, the size is just right as is) ... let me know if you do want to sell it.

The larger zig zag is almost exactly the same size as that of the scrappy four-patch wedding quilt project on my design wall. LOVE how the colors in yours play off the black/white/gray neutrals.

  10. Maybe a very thin border for the top one, but either way, it's wonderful.

  11. Even your header is a zig zag! I am making a zig zag border for something myself and you have inspired me to get back to it. Glad you're trimming and not putting setting triangles in the second quilt -- don't think I've ever seen them with a zig zag quilt, but it would make them look like an accordion fold on a hanging lantern.

  13. Both Zig - Zag pieces have such unique looks to them. Enlarging them gives good detail to the fabrics, especially your large piece.

  14. I like both of these Wanda. I think the first one would make a great wall hanging.

  15. I love the little one and the color choices you have made for this one. If you add a small border it would be great for the table top.

Tomorrow I am off to get more supplies for my design wall.
