I cut the strips at the fold line and stitched them together. This was just a random group of batiks, not necessarily ones I planned to use together. Don't ask me what I am going to make out of it, I sewed them just because I wanted to...........
The art quilters come today, first time since the end of Nov. Cookies are baked, basement is clean......
Have fun with your group today. Chris
ReplyDeleteThose batiks are so yummy. Cut them into random, large chunks and sew them together with stripes up and down and sideways. Oh, sorry -- horizontally and vertically. Have a fun day!
ReplyDeleteI must have subconsciously been looking at the quilt in the sidebar. The one with the strips in big chunks going up and down and sideways -- LOL!
ReplyDeleteI can think of no better reason!
ReplyDeleteWanda, you have the best stash of batiks on the planet ever! Have fun today.
ReplyDeleteWhat a weekend you had! Sounds like mine - crazy busy! Love you little log blocks and the batik scraps you stitched together. Have fun today with your group!
ReplyDeleteyour sewing those random strips together just for the joy of it reminds me of the time, years ago, when I brought home the piano keyboard I'd just bought. I'd been without a piano for a long time, and this thing had 180 "voices" besides a piano voice. I spent the evening lightly drawing my fingers, front and back, along the keys, changing the voice again and again, just luxuriating in the variety of sounds. ahh! such beauty, under my fingertips, coming at me almost beyond my control.
ReplyDeleteLooks beautiful! I've been in the mood to just play and create fabric and have seen several other people who are doing it. It must be the weather! Have fun and I can see something neat coming from this.
ReplyDeleteThe possibilities for using these strips sewn this way are endless!
ReplyDeleteIt should be a fun day and I hope the weather holds up for you this time.
ReplyDeleteI can see that piece being used as a journal cover.
You are an inspiration.
ReplyDeleteJust Sew !
Hugs,
Gerry
I like it, could be a journal cover or maybe a cosmetic bag.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy yourself today.
We had a Pastor years ago who used to say, "Do something lest you do nothing." He wasn't talking about sewing, of course, but it's the same principle, isn't it? I like that you do SOMETHING, and that you show us what you did! Have fun with your art quilters.
ReplyDeleteNice slices! Remind me of a torte! Yum!
ReplyDeleteAll sounds great to me...
ReplyDeleteI can see some lovely circles cut out of such a piece and appliqued to a medium backgound. Hmmm . . . possibilities.
ReplyDeleteYou definitely have a Midas Touch when it comes to color! Hope you had a fun afternoon.
ReplyDelete"Just because I want to" is one of the luxuries of being an adult with a creative mind. No rules have to be followed. Have fun!
ReplyDeleteI have a batch of strips sewn together also and I think I am going to make a purse with mine. Right now it is next to the sewing machine. All I need is the time and a zipper.
ReplyDeleteYou did this for the best reason in the world: because you wanted to.
ReplyDeleteGood for you.
K
