I have to show you the results from my class yesterday. Here is the front of the zippered bags. Note that you can make them any shape you want, they don't have to follow pattern directions.
Here is the other side of the bags.
They made bottle cozies. My tutorial will be ready in a day or two.
Two of the ladies brought their finished Trip Around the World tops to have me help them audition borders.
This one is going to have a wide red border, the larger print in the quilt. She will add a dark narrow border first.
This one was inspired by one I did with all Kaffe Fassett fabric last year. I really like her light fabrics. She has a mix of batiks and Kaffe fabric.
It was a fun day!!!
Oh man, what total fun. What a great day to get back in the blogging groove!!!!!! I enjoy seeing the way they used the fabrics to have fun with the front vs. back in the bags. And... okay... the Trip Around the World tops are ama-zing! I'm so happy for these ladies to have expressed such creativity. I know you are. :)
ReplyDeleteAnd Wanda, hope it's okay to point out a favorite but I can't help it. That last piece on the bottom... absolutely gorgeous. Thank you for all the yummy sharing and "hat's off" to the excellent class you have. Such talent!
You're having just too dern much fun! You have some talented students.
ReplyDeleteThe students are definitely reflecting the teacher.
ReplyDeleteI love the bag in the upper right corner.

The bags are such fun!!!! They would be great for sock yarn! Or any other small project.
ReplyDeleteThe bags are wonderful! Your students' work is amazing. It must reflect your teaching! Can't wait for the tutorial on the bottle cozies!
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful way to start the day - looking at these photos. The bags are so pretty and I can't wait for your tutorial on the cozies. The "Trip" quilts are so striking but that last quilt really made my day. It's simple but the effect is just gorgeous. So glad to see all of them.
ReplyDeleteCan I ask where you teach these wonderful classes? I too live in Northern Illinois and would love to visit a quilt shop and take more classes. Our closest shop, Prints Charming, closed about 2 years ago now and I have nowhere to go for a local quilt shop now.
ReplyDeleteThe little bags are all so cute and, wow!, I sure do love the Trip Around the World quilts.
ReplyDeleteI'm always partial to Kaffe Fassett and batiks too as that is just what I'm using now.
What a productive day! I like the 3rd bag on the top row the best. Cute water bottle cozies, I thought you might be using velcro closures, need to make one of these.
ReplyDeleteOh what pretty things you have posted for us to see! The bags are wonderful, the cozies are great, and those quilt tops....splendid! Such beautiful work done by all. Thanks for sharing. :)

Hi Wanda, Thought I'd catch up on your blog, I am really enjoying your art journals, and what a great way to use scaps on your journal below with the triangles. Of course I love all your Kaffe creations, thanks for all the inspiration.
ReplyDeleteI'm catching up on your blog and I LOVE your journal cover, the triangles really finish this off! Lucky students, their projects are wonderful, you do a great job teaching and inspiring others.
ReplyDeleteGreat weekend posts ! Saturday your journal quilt. And today your students creations are awesome !

btw...I did make a bottle cozy the very day you posted it. Thanks for the tip.
Lovely results!
ReplyDeleteWanda, I use the bag you made all the time.
Hi Wanda,
ReplyDeleteLooks like both you and your students had fun this weekend! It must do your heart good to see successful student results.
Thanks for your inspiration!

There is nothing better than seeing the results from several people making the same thing - they always turn out so different!
ReplyDeleteI love the zippered bags. What a great way to get rid of scraps. And the last quilt is magnificant. I am in awe of all the talent tht is out in cyberland. Today will be a day of a little quilting for me.
ReplyDeleteThe last quilt in this post really caught my eye. I love the fabric choices!
ReplyDeleteYour zipper bags are intriguing. Are zipper difficult to work with?
As a teacher it must be amazing to see what your students create. Thank you for sharing. The photos are so inspiring.
ReplyDeleteLove all the projects, but those bags are really neat, as I've said before lol.
ReplyDeleteWOW.... what a great bunch of photos.... the zipper bags are so fun to see.... do you have a favorite? It would be hard.
ReplyDeleteReally like the last quilt top you are showing.... the mix of the fabrics and colors ..... inspire me to think about this when it comes time to do something with the Kaffe Fassett fabrics I am collecting.
As always, I enjoy seeing your photos and reading your blog.
I have been looking at zippered, boxy bags and laughed when I saw what you taught. Our minds were at the exact same place... Are your bags done with hidden seams? I found a pattern with finished seams and chose that one to follow.
