Winning quilts..............and other things
Someone asked yesterday what the Sandwich Fair is. It is really the DeKalb County Fair and it held in Sandwich, IL. It is more commonly known as the Sandwich Fair. It is the largest county fair in IL and the last one of the season.
Today I am showing the quilts that won the grand prizes for their catagories.
If you click to enlarge the photos you may be able to read some of the signs on the quilts.
It is the goal of most entrants to win a purple ribbon at least once.
On the way to the quilts I passed the winner of largest pumpkin. I didn't notice what the weight was.
The pumpkin faces were made by the under 18 crowd.
I will be going back out to the fair today to take some more pictures.
The quilts are beautiful! I especially love the 4 patch quilt. They look mighty tiny. Wow, that pumpkin is massive.
ReplyDeleteWanda, if you return, will you jot down the name of the quilter who did the Halloween 9 patch and embroidered haunted houses? I NEED totalk to her! My friend gave me that kit last year and I wanted to get some opinions.
ReplyDeleteThanks for a bright and beautiful post!

ReplyDeleteYou could not have asked for better weather for the fair - altho there might be some rain tomorrow.
What fun!! The quilt with the itsy-bitsy 9-patch blocks caught my eye! Makes me think about doing one!
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing, I love seeing quilts from other parts of the country. The tiny 9 patch really caught my eye, how pretty. And love the pumpkins, that's a fun part of fairs, seeing everyones crops and flowers.
