Easy sewing...
I wanted some easy sewing last night so I worked on the Bento Box blocks that I cut out several weeks ago.
It was a nice cool day yesterday, near 70 degrees. I needed to make some easy meals for the freezer so I made chili on Thursday and meat loaf yesterday. While the meatloaf was cooking I mixed a batch of ginger cookies and baked them too. I mowed my back yard and picked up branches and walnuts. I threw the walnuts under the bird feeders in hopes that the squirrels will eat them and leave the bird feeders alone. It sounds like it won't be too hot for the Sandwich Fair which starts next Wednesday. That will be nice for a change.
Nice to do easy sewing Wanda. I am sure you will turn your blocks into a beautiful quilt.
ReplyDeleteSometimes those days are just the best! The weather here is glorious too!
ReplyDeleteOur weather has just changed too after Earl went through yesterday. we're having a leisurely breakfast and then a bike ride.
ReplyDeleteI think the Bento box would be up there as an all time favorite block for me. I will love this.
I have been pre-washing all the batiks I bought over the summer, in anticipation of making a quilt in the style of your Cobblestone series.
ReplyDeleteThere are already four quilts in the queue, so it may be a while, but I was especially inspired by your post some while ago showing your "Happy Wall", and I'm going to make a Happy Wall, too! I expect that some early Cobblestone blocks will find their way onto it.

sounds like you had a very nice day. I was just thinking about meatloaf yesterday but I still need a little cooler day before I think of using my oven much. I do have the windows open, second day in a row but the oven will heat the house up too much and then the A/C will need to come back on.

Fun sewing too!!!
ReplyDeleteIt is nice to have a cool down for you. It makes cooking easier to handle.
Easy sewing is good. I love your Bento Boxes. I should work on mine too. I have fabric cut for quite a few of them. I am loving this cooler weather. Today I am baking a plum cake, making tomato sauce and cooking a stew for dinner. Hope I have time for those Bento Boxes.
ReplyDeleteSounds like you had a very productive day- I like Bento box and intend to get one made before too long- It is fun to get some easier patterns done too. Your color choices will turn the quilt into a stunner whether you choose a simple or more complex design. I will look forward to seeing your bento box quilt.
ReplyDeleteLoved your red cardinal in one of the previous posts.
School has returned so I have not been reading many blogs until this weekend.
Regards,
Anna
Love those bright colors. Oh, I can smell those wonderful cookies!
ReplyDeleteSounds like you had a busy day, but what a lot you got accomplished! That's going to be a beautiful quilt.
ReplyDeleteOh, wow. I wish I were close enough to go to the Sandwich fair too!
ReplyDeleteNew Mexico's State Fair starts this week--I plan to stay far away, it's nothing like small local Midwestern fairs!
I cam e across a modified Bento Box tutorial last night here:

I'm wondering what you think of it? do you have a preferred method for ironing direction of seams in your blocks?
Sounds like a busy day! That chili sounds good. I bought a roast the other day to make.
