The toilet in my main level bathroom broke at 11 p.m. Mon. night so first on the schedule yesterday morning was calling a plumber. I had rigged a coat hanger to keep it from running all night. Around noon the plumber got here and it is fixed. Dad was grumpy yesterday morning when I took him for his blood test.
After lunch everything was better. I finally cut the 4 corner triangles and the border strips and now this top is finished. I'll pick the backing fabric today and get it sewn together.
I also sewed a scrappy green border on this little quilt top. Now it is the right size to finish for the Alzheimer patients who are receiving IV's.
I also got a binding cut for "Chocolate and Caramel".
I hope I can continue to get a lot done this week. I would like to choose the backs for several quilts and get them sewn. Maybe I will get to the quilting soon then too. I'm way behind in my quota of quilting one every week, WAAAAY behind!
Sorry to hear your Dad was a little grumpy for the blood test, but you know that food always makes it better. Your quilt is just gorgeous! I love it and the setting. Well done! I can't wait to see your Chocolate and Caramel completed, it too is a beauty!
ReplyDeleteWhat kind of vitamins do you take!?!? You can pack more into a day than anyone I know! The quilts are just beautiful. Wow. Sorry about your toilet...do people ever need plumbers during regular business hours? All those blood tests would make me grumpy too. Love, love, love those quilts...magical.
ReplyDeleteLike both of these alot. You may be behind in quilting, but you are way ahead of all of us in the piecing!
ReplyDeleteThe quilts look great! Don't be too hard on yourself - one quilt a week is a pretty lofty goal!
ReplyDeleteOooh. Very nice.
ReplyDeleteSorry to hear about your plumbing problems and your Dad's grumpiness.
Isn't everyone grumpy in this heat? I am.
Awesome, as usual!!
ReplyDeleteLove both your quilts, pleased you got the toilet fixed and hope Dad is not too grumpy next time you see him.
ReplyDeleteDo I recall you made some sort of deal about starting new ones and finishing UFO's ????? LOL It's hard to keep on track.
I think both quilt tops are very cool. Many more to come. ( i hope )Wig.
ReplyDeleteLove Chocolate and Caramel (ant the two you show today) Wanda!
ReplyDeleteThese are lovely, great colors. Don't you appreciate wire coat hangers... some of their best uses has nothing to do with clothes!
ReplyDeleteLove the top quilt especially -- I am betting the colors just really glow in person!
ReplyDeleteLove your site--just found it through Mary Stori's. What is the name of the quilt block for the green quilt?
ReplyDeleteYour quilt tops are fabulous, Wanda - it's your mastery of value, evident in all of your creations, and your sparkle of whimsy (red roses peeking out) that make all the difference. Bunny (and Joe)
ReplyDeleteI'm also wondering about your vitamins. How do you do it all? I love the fabric choice for the borders on the quilt though I can't see it closely, the color is nice.
ReplyDeleteEverything looks wonderful! You might be way behind, but you're far ahead of me!
ReplyDeleteI'd be grumpy too if someone was always dragging me off the the lab for blood tests!
Both those are fabulous. I love the top one -- fun to just sit back away from the computer monitor and look at it. And Chocolate and Caramel - can't wait to see it finished!
ReplyDeleteFinished is good, and both of those tops are so pretty. Dealing with aging parents is no picnic, but I'm sure your Dad appreciates all you do for him.
ReplyDeleteI love the green quilt for a lap blanket! You are so generous!
ReplyDeleteIt's the backs that hold me up, too. I love planning and sewing tops but then the backs have to be figured out and sewn together. It's just a good thing that it takes me so long to make tops or I would be inundated with them.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful - your quilts are always lovely
ReplyDeleteThe borders do as much as any frame for a piece of art work. You always select the best .
