The balloon flowers have changed location. I had read that they don't like to be transplanted, but they sure like to plant themselves all over the place; self seeding I guess.
There are a bunch of them right at the edge of the sidewalk, in front of the coral bells. The red penstemon planted itself there too. It is a huge plant and I will transplant it to the back yard. I usually only get a year or 2 out of them after I move them.
My flower beds are jungles this year. I don't need to mulch because everything is jam packed in next to something else. This flower bed is 6 years old and really needs to be thinned. The tiger lilies are tall but haven't bloomed yet. There a couple little maple trees in there too.
I don't know where the milkweed plant came from. It just appeared last year. I was expecting pods but this is what it has on it. My neighbor has one in her front garden too and she didn't plant hers either.
The porch pots love all of the rain we have had. I found a couple hostas in pots next to the house. I planted them last year and never found anyone to give them to.
It has been a tough week with Dad. He had his blood test and Dr. appt. as usual and then he needed to see his regular dr. for some sores that weren't healing. The good news is the sores aren't deep and he now has a home health nurse coming in to help him. We did the preliminary set up yesterday morning. Then Dad fell in the shower in the afternoon. He seemed more confused last night than he has been. We just take it one day at a time. He is a happy good natured guy which makes it easier for me.
Interesting about your plants, I have also found that some of my plants seem to have mysteriously moved places as well. But I am not sure how. I am thinking animals. Sorry to hear about your Dad. Sometimes day by day is the best way to handle these things. Sending good thoughts and prayers your way.
ReplyDeleteYour Dad falling isn't good. The weeds and the flowers are still taking over my gardens. Your porch pots are really healthy. More rain to come this week. We are to get 1-4 inches more in the next 5 days. Chris
ReplyDeleteI hope your dad recovers quickly from the fall.
ReplyDeleteI enjoy your strolls in the garden. There are so many things in my yard that just appeared out of nowhere. It's looking a little like a jungle here, too. Just too hot to do much yardwork lately. I'm hoping for a cold front!
Did you know those milk weed blossoms are edible? According to my mom, they out scored broccoli on a family taste test.
ReplyDeleteSending prayers for your dad's comfort and recovery.
A day at a time is the only way to do it when you're going through difficult times. Thinking of you and your Dad.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful flowers. Praying for you and your dad.
ReplyDeletesorry to hear about your dad - yes best to take one day at a time - it is all you can do. Some of my garden spots are so thick too, but I really do not like to do much with them unless it is very early spring or late fall when the temperatures are better for working outside.

Hi Wanda, Love your garden strolls.
ReplyDeleteAlso, your blocks from Sunday's post are
outstanding! You are an inspiration!
Thinking of your Dad and hoping he is
doing well today! jmh
I know your Dad's well being is a priority and huge concern for you right now. Just know I am thinking about you both.
ReplyDeleteI just can not get over how your porch plants and the foliage in front of your house has exploded. We have had lots of rain BUT not sun. And that sun helps too. A very unusual spring for so many of us.

Inspiration is everywhere. And when life seems too heavy, just looking outside somehow revives us. Sorry to hear about your dad, hang in there.
ReplyDeleteYour garden stroll was lovely -- and your porch plants look fabulous!
ReplyDeleteDay at a time is the only way to handle it, I think -- hope the confusion was just from the shock of the fall.
I enjoy your garden photos; everything looks so beautiful.
ReplyDeleteI hope your dad will be okay. Take care.
Leslie
Your garden photos are always so beautiful, but I am so very sorry to hear of your Dad's fall, and medical issues. Hang in there. I'm glad you told us he has a good sense of humor - it sure helps, doesn't it?
ReplyDeleteMaybe you should look into getting your father a shower bench seat. Falls in the bathroom are common and can be very dangerous and have long lasting effects. There are several different styles of shower chairs, I would suggest getting one with a padded seat, as many seniors do not have a lot of padding to sit on anyway.
ReplyDeleteBest of luck,

Hi Wanda,
ReplyDeleteYour garden is lovely in spite of being cramped. I'm up to my ears in overgrown English Ivy, Virginia creeper and lamium I also have a Lenten rose that would like to take over my rock garden (4-inch pot to 4-foot square plot in just 10 years). Yikes.
Hope your dad stablizes soon.
Take care.

I think my plants have parties in the winter and get confused as to where they belong. I have divided and moved my balloon plants. They do have a tap root like an Oriental poppy. If the milkweed is like the ones we have here, the blosoms are beautiful and look like and exotic, topical plant. They are kind of waxy in appearance and similiar to a horse chestnut and sort of like a rhody. Sending my thoughts and prayers to you Dad and you. I hope he feels better and stronger soon. Thanks for the tour!
