Rounding up my class supplies.......
We had rain in the morning yesterday and then it turned into a hot and very humid day. I spent most of the day rounding up all of my supplies to teach my scrap quilt class today. It is supposed to be 92 degrees and humid. I hope the a/c at the store can keep us cool. My old neighbors' garage sale (in my garage) is going to be Thurs. and Fri. this week. I wonder how many people read the ad titled 'moving sale' with my address and wondered where I was moving to, LOL.
Today Dad's bath aide will come and help him with his shower. He doesn't want to fall any more so he would rather be seen naked by an aide than to get hurt. To answer a comment yesterday, my dad has a shower chair. He fell because he reached down to pick up something and his balance is not what it used to be. Actually he has done really well for 96 years and only in the last 6 months has become quite unsteady. I'm glad he is willing to accept help now.
I am assuming the "moving sale" was a misprint? LOL. I am sure that you will have a good time at class. Good to hear that your Dad is accepting help.
ReplyDeleteKnowing your Dad is having the aide assist him must give you some peace of mind. Much better for him and you!
ReplyDeleteWe're supposed to get the really hot/humid weather too -- but with thunderstorms.
The gathering of supplies sounds like fun. I know you are better organized than what I am so not a hard thing for you. Hope your Dad feels better. Chris
ReplyDeleteafter the first couple times of having an aide assist him your dad will get use to it - he might not like having an aide - but he will get used to it.

It must be difficult for our elders to accept help but once they do, I wonder if they are relieved. It can not be easy to live with the fear of falling or getting hurt and in the process make things difficult for the people around them.
ReplyDeleteI am glad he accepted help and I wish you and your dad the best.
I love the picture of the snowball!
Life is so hard when we exchange roles with our parents and start to "worry" about them. Prayers and hugs to both of you as you struggle to maintain dignity while finding care and comfort.
ReplyDeleteYour dad sounds like such an intelligent person . . . willing to do it himself for just as long as possible but sensible enough to know when he reaches "that" point of needing assistance.
ReplyDeleteHugs to you and your dad ... TWO remarkable people!
Beautiful photo of your hydranga. Mine haven't bloomed yet, and my small one that was attacked by snails and slugs seems to have recovered. I'm waiting for my burst of color....so I've enjoyed all your flower photos while I wait.
ReplyDelete96! Amazing!
ReplyDeleteRe: your dad. My Grama is 86 and kept falling. She was finally injured badly and had to go for a stay in the hospital. Now PT is coming in and found that she had very little muscle mass. She has exercises that she does every day, which is making her knee feel better (had been bugging her for a long time) and her balance is a bit better. I don't know if it is possible for him to do some basic exercises, but you might ask.
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely hydrangea. That gorgeous white against the dark green foliage is wonderful. Hope your class is fun today. With you as a teacher I cannot imagine it being anything else. How lucky for you that your dad is willing to accept help. So many of the elderly don't want to admit they need it. It must be hard to be forced to give up your independence.
