Binding Done!

My goal yesterday was to finish the binding on the QOV quilt so I can wash it today.  It took me more time to hand finish the binding than it took to load it on the machine, quilt it and sew the binding on.  I have a hard time sitting still that long.

You can get a better look here at the nice fabrics that Beverly used to piece the top.

  3. Hand work takes forever sometimes. But the look is better when done by hand. The quilt will be appreciated. Chris

  4. It does take a while to hand sew bindings...but that's when I download a good audio book and listen to it on my MP3 or laptop. It's the perfect time to loose yourself in a good novel. Lynne

  7. Hand sewing the binding does take a long time, but that is the last 'stage' of a quilt and I am always glad when I reach it! I love the quilting you did on this one.

  10. I find hand sewing binding relaxing and always do it when I sit to watch tv in the evening, a couple of evenings or maybe 3 or 4 :) depending on the size and it is done.

  12. What a yummy-looking quilt!

I 'feel your pain' with the binding. I usually farm out the handwork on my bindings - I like to cultivate friends who LOOoove to do that sort of thing! - so doing one on my own once a year or so is a real eye-opener.

  15. great job! I love hand binding on quilts. it is time to get acquainted with the quilt at a different level and means it is almost done! I like to relax with handwork at the end of a busy day. also washes away all the stresses of my day to start anew.

  16. And MY thoughts? #1 - This gal is older than I, and how DOES she get so much accomplished?!?!? #2 - Laughter at reading that you can't sit down for long! That's what my husband tells people about me. I thought it was NORMAL to hop up & down out of my recliner. Just this past weekend our 10-year-old granddaughter overheard me telling another family member about a movie we had watched, and she chimed in, "You mean you sat in your chair for a WHOLE MOVIE?!?!?!"
