I sewed the final seams on this top last night. I really pushed myself to finish even though I was tired. I sewed the last 6 seams in one direction and then the 9 seams the other way. It ended up 57" x 79".
I also cut another 12 fabrics for the zig zag quilt and filled in a few more of the gaps.
Now I have to finish cleaning the basement for the art quilters' group that is coming on Monday so I will probably do some mindless scrap play tonight.
So amazingly beautiful...thanks for taking us along for the process.
ReplyDeleteNobody mixes those big prints as well as you do. Love it.
ReplyDeleteI also love your term "mindless scrap play"
Always love your color choices, and you are so fast!
ReplyDeleteIt's amazing what you can do with lights and darks. This has been a great lesson on lights and darks rather than matching colors. I love this blog! Amie:o)
ReplyDeleteIt is beautiful! I love the idea of mindless scrap play. We all need more playtime. Karmen
ReplyDeleteI don't think your scrap play is ever mindless. Your always create something specky.
ReplyDeleteIt is beautiful. You have worked hard on this one this week. The zigzag is coming along nicely too.
ReplyDeletewonderful! I really like how it came together.

ReplyDeleteBeautiful and I love how the zigzag quilt is coming along. I definitely want to make one someday. Just need to get to it.
ReplyDeleteYay! A finish of that big part of a quilt is always a good feeling. And it is so beautiful. Hope you get quilted soon so you can enjoy it in all its glory!
ReplyDeleteWOW they are great!
ReplyDeleteI have enjoyed seeing these two piece's look so totally different using the same fabric triangles.

exciting news= the new KF book is out. I pre-ordered one on Amazon, and received it on Wed. Hope you get a chance to see it soon. As usual, the designs and photos are wonderful, and the instructions are not.
ReplyDeleteAlso, as usual, I am enjoying watching your quilts emerge. I have especially enjoyed your recent tips on color, etc.

I do love the way you (and your students) have used color in these quilts, Wanda.
ReplyDeleteI've been reading your blog for a while, enjoying it immensely, and thought I should let you know.

This is magnificent! I love your work. This is so inspiring as I try to make my own first little blocks.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful quilt! And I think it was the right decision to go with the dark in the middle. I'm a little late on that decision as I was away for the week.
ReplyDelete"mindless: and Wanda do not belong in the same sentence!
ReplyDeleteFantabulous! Or something like that!
ReplyDeletewOw...... amazing; you make it look easy.

Thanks so much for the lesson. It is the best and simpliest one I have seen on lights, mediums, and darks. I am really looking forward to your future posts and quilts.
ReplyDeleteI don't know how you do it but ...YOU DO!!! You see things that I, for one, just don't. I'm so glad you do and that you share so generously!
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely beautiful. I have some Kaffe Charms and I might try this idea when I get round to using them. Thanks for the inspiration :)
ReplyDeleteI love that you are showing that on the horizontal. Do you plan on keeping it that way?
