A lot of people commented on my scrap organization. Since I make so many quilts I create a lot of scraps. A lot of the strips in the blocks above are my clean up cut pieces explained here. A lot of my scraps are kept in separate categories, batiks, Kaffe prints, dotted fabrics, regular prints, etc. The dotted ones were kept separate because I cut them all for this quilt and just kept all of the clean up cuts together afterwards. Next batch of blocks, next quilt
I started this batch of blocks on Saturday night. They are quarter log cabin blocks using strips whatever width they are in the scrap bag, some crooked ones, some straight ones. The black print corner block is 5" and the blocks are about 13" now. I'm shooting for 16-18" finished blocks. These are inspired by the blocks in the Gwen and Freddy book I showed last week.

I can already tell this quilt is going to be a favorite of mine! The bright and cheerful colors are just the best. And who can resist dots?
ReplyDeleteI read all your posts on organizing back when I first discovered your blog. You are the queen of organization in my book. I've tried to keep my scraps organized and have dozens of those little clear lettuce containers I've re-purposed for holding various categories and future projects. They just keep stacking up since I keep starting new projects.

Another great set of blocks. I can see after checking some of your organizational posts why you have such variety and speed. I'm always tweaking my organizing and I think I need a spot for precuts. Great idea to have the 'paints' at the ready! Thanks!

After 20 yr of not quilting I started back 2 yr ago. My experience before was limited to say the least. I have done two quilts with batiks and fell in love instantly. Thank you for sharing your stash in all its glory. You bring much joy to blogland!!!

This new quilt is going to be great! I love how your coordinate your colors and layouts and create such wonderful things. But with this one...it's just sort of like "I AM HERE"!!!!! Sometimes that "shout out" is exactly what we need!
