Another round of triangles

I got the next set of strips sewn together and cut into triangles. As I was reading the instructions yesterday it says the triangles are too big and will be trimmed after adding. That is good because they aren't all exactly the same size. I cut 2 squares of the Ikat checkerboard to see if I like it. I have it in a couple other colors too.I tried a lot of Kaffe fabrics as the other 2 squares but didn't find anything I really liked. Then late last night just before heading to bed I pulled out 2 Philip Jacobs prints that I have enough of to do center squares and borders. It was too late to see if they would work so I just snapped pictures and turned off the lights.
I was asked to teach a class with the pattern below. Check it out on the company's site. It is pattern GE-134. I don't even want to type the name on here because it will invite unwanted comments. What was she thinking when she named it? You couldn't do a search for it without getting a porn site. Yes it is catchy and cute, but maybe too dangerous for Internet browsing and searching.
It uses 2.5" strips so I am testing it with some leftover strips from another project.

  1. Those two Philip Jacobs fabrics are some of my favorites. I just ordered a couple bolts of them and hopefully they will be here today and then in my shop!! I love how your quilt is turning out. The color of the Ikat checkerboard looks perfect from here.

  2. Love the Philips Jacobs--it would be toss up on which one to use!

On a side note, I linked over to the GE Designs website to check out the name of that block--they're ALL terrible, but the funniest part is that my browser tab (which usually shows the website title) is simply labeled "Services"! How ironic is that???

    :O)

    Thanks for the laugh!

  3. The triangle quilt is looking good. I just had to check out the pattern name after your comment. I agree, what was she thinking? That's probably the worst one, but some of the others are questionable as well.

  6. I love the new quilt you're working on, and the Philip Jacobs prints are stunning! Can't wait to see which you pick.

As to the class quilt, ditto the other posters.. did you let them know about the potential porn risk when searching? They do have some nice patterns tho!

  7. I don't even want to imagine what comes up with any of the pattern names. As for the Phillip Jacobs I would love them both but go with the bottom print.

  11. Oh, that Kaffe inspired quilt is coming along very nicely.

Your concern over the other pattern name reminds of a time when I tried to look up a Japanese eggplant dish for my husband. OY! Who knew eggplant was slang for something else, lol!

  12. *L*...I got a "services" tab too for that whole page.

that's a danger when you start stripping, I guess. *S*

  13. I really love what you are doing with your "triangle" piece. The Ikat checkerboard centers work perfect, and will anchor the corners as well. Those two P. Jacobs prints you found are just stunning. Anxious to see which one works the best.

  14. As usual, you have another fun project going. Oh how I wish I had your energy (and time)!! I love the Philip Jacobs prints and am curious which one you end up using. I'm going to guess it will be the yellow hollyhocks!

  15. I see you have another beautiful quilt in the making. Can't wait to see the finished product!
I couldn't decide which Philip Jacobs fabric I like best, I know your choice will work perfectly.
I wish I had your energy too! I can't seem to get in gear these days!
Those pattern names were funny - I enjoyed the laugh! Thanks for sharing.

  16. I am kind of suprised that the publisher of those patterns went along 'hook, line, and sinker' for the s____ club joint theme . . . maybe 'cute' or 'catchy' on first glance, but not so much when you contemplate the longer term.

LOVE what you are doing with KF and PJ fabrics!
