Am I done yet?

I cut some more stripes and made a few more blocks. I think this one is almost done. I really don't want a large quilt of it. I think it is more interesting as a small piece. I'll make at least one more medium size square and a few more small ones for variety.I have cut up about half of the strips that are sewn together for this next one. That means it might end up about twice this size. I think the blocks are 8" so right now it is only 24" x 32". It is all still just loose triangles on the design wall so I can play with the arrangement some more.
While I watched 3 programs on TV last night I quilted this table runner. I made the top about 3 years ago. I used fusible batting again (Hobbs Heirloom fusible) so the layers stayed together well while I quilted back and forth across the width. I'm going to use the black with white dots that is laying under it for the binding.

I had to do some paperwork for my 96 year old dad yesterday to finish up my mother's estate. It was warm enough that I could take him to the bank for the guaranteed signature that was required. He hasn't been going out much in the last few months. He prefers we bring in the evening meal 2 times a week instead of going out to a restaurant. I'm happy with that too. Then I don't have to sit near a bunch of coughing and sneezing people. I haven't had a cold for almost 7 years now, ever since I started drinking my healthy smoothie in the morning with my Cheerios and cashews. I hope my luck holds up for some more healthy years.

  1. Oh Wanda, Your striped Kaffe quilts are just beautiful!! I really need to finish sewing up my squares for the first one. It is still on my design wall and I would love to start piecing it together soon. We'll see where the day takes me. So nice that you haven't been sick in so long. That smoothie is packed with some wonderfully healthy things.

  3. Both stripe quilts are looking great. And the dot one...well, you know how much I love dots! I'm hoping for some sewing time today after I finish my business accounting for 2009.

  8. Hi Wanda,
The striped blocks are smashing. The first one reminds me of "Time Tunnel" and the second one really has an optical illusion effect (i.e. where is the "real" block?)
I love that table runner. You did a good job hiding the repeated blocks (I had to study it a while to see them).
Does that smoothie breakfast keep you full until lunch? Looks like it could.

  9. I absolutely LOVE the first quilt with the different sized striped blocks. It really has a POW factor in every way - color, placement of blocks, etc... I hope Kaffe Fassett reads your blog so he can see the amazing things you do with his fabrics.

I love the other quilt and the table runner (so cheerful and colorful), too, but the first quilt is really amazing.

Thanks for a color pick me up on a dreary, hazy morning.

  11. Hi Wanda,
I am slogging through my third major head cold in as many months. The first two were treated with antibiotics and steroids, but this one I am going to see through naturally. I am going to give your smoothie a try in hopes it may bolster my immune system. It certainly can't hurt! I love your work. Karmen

  15. I really like the second one. It looks sculptured. Also the table runner (a favorite type of quilt that I like to make) is cool with the spots/dots. May your dad's health continue -- yours too!

  20. Love your blocks, this is going to be a great quilt. I just saw one at our guild meeting the other day very similar. It was quilted with circles and it turned out lovely.

  22. These stripes are so fun. It's especially nice to see the differences between the two works when you use the stripes perpendicular to your block and parallel to it. I'm working on a quilt with miters (can't show it yet since it's a gift) and made sure to include a few striped fabrics.

  23. Both of these are looking good...they will make beautiful quilts.

  24. I also love the first one. I'm curious as to how you figure out the different blocks mathematically to all fit together.

  25. I love the top quilt... not sure if it's 'done' yet, but the fabrics are amazing, love how the colors work together.

  27. They say nuts are the healthy way to go... cashews and Cherios does sound good. Your dad being 98 tells me that you probably inherited some pretty healthy genes as well, but of course no one says anything about quilting being good for ones heart, do they LOL You have a good eye for keeping your stripes stright through out your blogs. Very nice, Wanda
