Chocolate fix

I made a batch of fudge last night. I think it is one of the 5 major Christmas food groups isn't it? I had to slice the end row off because it just had a ragged look to it. And then of course I had to sample it.I know you didn't come here to see my chocolate fix. You want to know who won the batik strips and chunks. Well I decided to pull 3 names for each instead of 2 because I know I have that many that I can give away and still have plenty to work with.

So for the crooked strips: Sue (at dot with an underline)
Suzan at the Reluctant Quilter
Edwina Wagner from Petaluma, CA

For the chunks Kathie L from Allentown
Jane at Crazy...Once Again
Maggie-Bedthreads
I won't be mailing the batik scraps out until after Christmas but I need your mailing addresses so I can stay organized so please email me.

*************

There is still time to sign up for the things in yesterday's post until midnight tonite. I have some good news too. I was so sure that no one would want the calicoes from pre-1984 and you all fooled me. I have another batch that is more multicolor that I will divide up and draw 4 additional names. I won't have those batches ready until after Christmas but the first group will get mailed out right away. I used to make charm kits back in 1986 and I still have two left, one which I will divide up. If you want to see my charm quilts go to the Label list on the right side bar and click on Charm Quilts.

  3. Oh man, you have the most fun giveaways. As for fudge, it isn't even Christmas yet, and I have enough chocolate to last all 2010. Your fudge is beautiful though!

  4. You are a really kind, caring (and sharing) person! As for the fudge, I most certainly agree that you can't leave it with a ragged edge!!!

  5. I've made several log cabins and still have one unfinished. I think I'll have to get it out and work on it after Christmas. The fudge looks delicious. It's 19 degrees in WV after 50 yesterday, but I see it's 4 there so I shouldn't complain. Stay warm. I'm on my laptop snuggled up with a lap quilt reading the temperature on line.

  6. of course if you are trimming the edges of fudge you have to try it out! I do that to :)

  8. Ohhh, Wanda! How fun it was to look this morning and see my name here... hee-hee, a lucky day! I agree, Chocolate is a food group. Your fudge is begging for that knife to run another slice through, isn't it?

  10. When I saw the fudge and you said you evened up the edge, I was hoping it was a third day of give-aways. To paraphrase yesterday's:

"This last group is the first cut to straighten the FUDGE so they are crooked width strips varying anywhere from 3/4" to 3" wide. They are great for a SNACKING project and they are all DELICIOUS so mention that if you want to be in a drawing for them."

I would especially look forward to the 3" wide pieces, but the 3/4" ones would be just as tasty!

  18. The gratification that giving brings is beyond words. You are truly in the Christmas spirit.

Your fudge looks delicious. Could it be the old recipe found on the "Campfire" marshmellow box way back in the '50's ?

  19. I hope you are saving some of your fudge (scraps or pieces ) for your Art Quilters Day. If you don't have any left by the 18th I will settle for peanut butter cookies.

  20. Fudge is definitely a food group, along with shortbread! A co-workers wife sent over trays of fudge, we all kept our plates hidden to take home and snacked from the "community" tray all day! hehehe Then asked for the recipe.

  21. Oh boy! That fudge looks terrific. For a minute there I thought it was part of your give away! Congratulations to the winhers! I went and looked at your charm quilts and all I can say is "WOW"!

  22. Ok now all I want to do is run to store and buy chocolate in any form! I love your Ocean waves charm quilt. But your "Bricks" quilt is just breathtaking and looks like it was so time-consuming . . .but worth every measure, cut, sew!

  23. Umm, Wanda could you slide some of that fudge this way? LOL It looks great. The fascinating thing about looking at your giveaway is seeing the evolution of your fabric choices through the years. I know you must have made quilts of some, or all, of those fabrics at different times in your quilting career, but your current passion is quite different.

  24. Does anyone leave a ragged edge on fudge? Or put those undersized cookies in the jar? Or toss the crumbs from the pan after putting the cake on a tray? Heehee.
Your charms are lovely. I had one pile and made disappearing nine-patch blocks from all the florals. Photo pending, as soon as it is sandwiched and quilted.
All this talk of food has me hungry now.

  26. Chocolate MUST be "the" seasonal food - so far, our office has received (and consumed) a large box of chocolate covered pretzels, a box of chocolate squares, brownies, several coffee cakes, and today we received a 5 lb. box of exquisite chocolates from the local (premiere) candy maker. Oh my ~ so hard to walk past the kitchen without making a detour to inhale the aroma (and try "just a taste").

I make fudge for Valentine's Day (by then I'm ready for chocolate again after the overload in Dec.).

Have fun with your giveaways ~ I know you are making MANY others very happy!
