Good day for sewing

I couldn't get excited about working outside on an overcast day so I stayed inside. I sewed the binding on the quilt I showed on Mon., ripped out a small section of quilting where the tension went goofy and re quilted it, did the math and figured I had enough of the purple fabric for the setting triangles for Fractured Pansies 2 and went ahead and cut the triangles. I may have to piece the fabric to be able to cut the corner triangles but I don't think it will show in that deep purple color..

Then I made 2 more journal covers. These are really wonky looking. When I sewed the leftovers from the Strips that Sizzle strata together I thought they looked OK. Then when I got them bordered with this alphabet fabric I wasn't too sure I liked them. I like the illusion though of the purple bars over the green in the background.
I delivered Dad's shirt to him and he was really excited about it. Whew!! He didn't try it on while I was there so I told him not to cut the tags off until he tried it on and was sure he liked the way it fits. I told him it was an early birthday present since his birthday is only 22 days away.

  1. you get so much accomplished I am hopping up and down to much going from room to room wandering when it is raining and then back to quilt and then up and down - I wish I could get more accomplished.

  2. I'm so glad your dad liked the shirt! The journal covers have a very neat effect. I didn't know what you meant by "alphabet fabric" until I enlarged the photos -- it's a good choice for a journal where people will be writing things down.

  4. Very nice. It does look great with the dark color popping out on top of the greens. I like the alphabet fabrics with it.

We're getting your overcast day today and then they say we've got a big storm coming in with lots of rain and wind. But still mild.

  7. I never tire of seeing another one of your journal covers. This one is perfect with the writing on the purple. I enjoy enlarging your photo's, detail is amazing.

  8. I like these wonky covers too. The writing, before enlarging, looks like a purple brick wall with openings to a garden! Cool!

  12. Hi Wanda,
Your journal covers are very garden-like (sitting on a porch, looking past the hanging baskets of flowers to the garden).
I like the neat "word" fabric, too. Ideas, ideas.

  14. I love how the journal came out. The writing behind it adds another element of design that seems to blend well with everything else. I think if it was plain, it wouldn't POP the way it does now.
