Fun day with Diane

My visit yesterday was with Diane from Persnickety, the person responsible for my blogging. She casually mentioned she had a blog so I started questioning her about it and next thing I knew Exuberant Color was born. She and I used to work together at a quilt shop and we were both teachers there also. If you follow the link above it will lead you to the post where Diane talks about her inspiration for the quilt top shown here. If you read further you will read that Diane has MS and is no longer able to do a lot of things. I finished sewing this top together for her while we had a good time talking about everything we have in common. Diane has such an upbeat personality that it is a pleasure to visit her and help her with a few things. By the way her Internet has been down for a few weeks and that is why she has not posted lately.

I have had a lot of questions about my journal covers, like what do I do with all of them. Well Diane had asked me to make a bunch for her to purchase that she could use for Christmas presents so I delivered 8 of them to her. I sell them as fast as I can make them so I continue to make more. Maybe I can get ahead on them at some point and will be able to put them on my Wandaful site.

Today is the second half of the Disappearing 9 Patch class so I will try to get some pictures to post tomorrow.

  1. Wanda! Thanks for this post. I've been fretting over Diane. I left a comment on her Blog and I even have her F. Rd. address sitting out here on my desk ready to write her. I feel like a little weight has been lifted off my shoulders. Whew. She's such a beautiful person, a source of light. Again, thank you!

  2. I am sorry to hear that your friend is doing poorly. I have had a lady with MS in classes and she is always going going going, I think trying to get everything done she can before she can't do it anymore. It is so sad.

  4. When I made my journal covers, I'm having trouble getting the pockets to be the right size to fit the covers. Can you help?

I LOVE your variety on the covers. I think these would make GREAT Christmas gifts to my admin team at work and I want to get started on them now. :)

  5. I, too, love your journals especially those you stamped on. With that as my inspiration, I purchased copper metallic paint at Houston and think I'll try a few. Think they'd also be good fundraisers next year for our 'Quilting for Christ' group at our church. This year we're doing the CUTEST luggage tags, pincushions, burb cloths, water bottle cozies and more. Will letcha know how it works for me!

  6. Tell Diane that her red 'n white and mint green top has a '50' ~ '60's' era look to it. It is charming. The color way is so reminiscent of that time. Just love it. You are as special as she is, and I know she was so grateful to have you help her.

  7. Hi Wanda
Now we know where all those journals have been going; not into a deep dark covered bin as I was imagining.
Diane's little quilt is cute; I remember that post. Glad to hear she's "just" having internet problems, not something more dire.

  8. I love this cushion! It makes me think that no evil exists in this world. If I had a daughter, I'd make something like this for her.
