More playing with circles

This piece is nowhere near as successful as the one yesterday. Here it is before I added the black fabric. It is pretty monotone.
This is the fabric I started with. I am going to remove a couple of the fabrics and rearrange some of the blocks. It just isn't working for me. I put the pink bandana hand dyed in some of the corners and I don't like it in there.

I'm moving on to the next project too. I will be teaching Strips That Sizzle the next 2 Tuesdays.
I want to recreate the purple and yellow one that I made that is in the book by Margaret J. Miller. I guess the second printing is out of print now too and now they have a DVD instead. Here is the post where I showed the 2 quilts of mine that were in the book. Scroll down to the second one. I sold this quilt and wish I hadn't so I'm going to make one that I hope I like even better.

I like the vibrant colors that are in this new quilt. At the time you sell a quilt you feel pretty good about it, then when you had a sufficient amount of time to think about it, you wish you could undo everything. Kind of like other things in life. I will be looking forward to seeing your newest creation. I love the colors that you chose.

I am totally in love with the circle quilts and I am going to do one at the start of the new year. Too much on my plate before then but I am really looking forward to making one!

Sonya Delaunay, absolutely! The panther is priceless. Reminds me a lot of the drawings of Art Sparker (Susan Sanford).

OMG that old A.H. fabric brings back memories! I even made a dress out of it. Gee whiz. I think this circle piece is fantastico, and so inspiring. Makes even a non-traditionalist sit up and take notice.

What about adding a fabric with a bit more white in it? Even with the yellow it seems like their isn't enough contrast between light and dark. Still pretty vivid though.

Your circle quilt is gorgeous...I love all those colors with the black. One of these days I have to try to make a circle quilt too!

Hey ~ I think this one is as great as the one you posted yesterday. It sparkles and the black is what makes it so.

Love that whimsical black panther fabric.

And those quilts that were printed in M.J.Miller book of yours is absolutely wonderful. I can see why you have sellers remorse, that piece was a keeper. But I agree with you, the next one will even be better.

Could you comment on why you feel that the circle quilt you posted yesterday is more successful than today's? And what you look for in your fabric combos to get you started?

Gee, I kinda like today's circle quilt better than yesterday's. Actually, I kinda like 'em all! I expect it'll be next year before I get a chance to start one as well. Oh, I can't wait to see you get going with the Strips that Sizzle! I love that book!!

I like that circle quilt with the black added in! It really glows -- to me, at least.
I can't wait to see what comes out of that collection of purples and yellows!

I love the Strips that Sizzle fabric choices. Now I'm going to look forward to seeing the finished quilt. When you teach the class, please would you talk VERY LOUDLY so that I can hear you in the UK? Thankyou.

I had to put on sunglasses! Wow, I am totally loving what the black does. It's always such a popping colour!
