And here is the finished bag.
And a close up of the stem stitch by machine and the blanket stitch applique by machine.
Yesterday in the comments Lyn asked about my projects with Kaffe fabrics. I have found that most fabrics don't look that terrific with the Kaffe fabrics but by accident I realized that batiks work rather well with them. I usually use all Kaffe, or Kaffe and some of the other designers for Westminster/Rowan fabrics like Philip Jacobs in my quilts. One example of the Kaffe and batiks quilts is here. I have a few more quilts in my future from these fabrics, so stay tuned.
It's beautiful, love the colors. Is the stem stitch done by couching over a thread?
ReplyDeleteOHhhhh~ Wanda I like your finished travel case so much better than the photo on pattern. The detail on the leaf border your did is awesome.
ReplyDeleteI'm sure store owner will run out of patterns on that one.

The travel case is beautiful! Love the way you did the leaves! Thanks for sending me to your earlier quilt post. I had not seen it before. Boy! Was I missing out! It's fantastic! I love those bright colours too. Triangles are a bit of a challenge, but I think I see one of these in my future.
ReplyDeleteThe case is beautiful - especially your color and fabric choices. Very pretty. Congrats!
ReplyDeleteEllen in chilly NC - but at least we don't have snow.
It is beautiful. I love the colors / fabric you selected.
ReplyDeleteEvery day your blog brings new delights, and this bag is certainly one of them. Love the colors and your technique. Again, I'm inspired!
ReplyDeleteOH, what a wonderful little bag! The colors are yummy (of course the workmanship is spot-on) - and I totally forgot that one can do some embroidery stitches on the machine...
ReplyDeleteThanks for the reminder and the eye candy!
Love the little bag, esp the colors.
ReplyDeleteThe bag is beautiful...love your color choices. As usual, you make it look fast and easy!
ReplyDeleteI made a Jane Brocket quilt a short while back, am quilting it now, and I didn't have enough Kaffe fabrics so I added all kinds of others. I think it looks fabulous and the Kaffe fabrics fit in wonderfully. Of course it could be that I just like fabrics that are similar since I picked all the fabrics off my shelves.
ReplyDeleteThat little bag is fabulous!! I love it.
ReplyDeleteThat is so pretty!
ReplyDeleteIt should be green though. Mostly because I'm green with envy. You do such nice work and I never know what I'm going to see here next. Thank you so much for sharing your work with us.
That's a cool little bag!
ReplyDeleteGREAT bag! I need that for today...I'm off to the Munich Kristkindlmarkt or christmas market!!
ReplyDeleteThat is really nice. That would make a wonderful gift. I think that this pattern will have a jump in sales.
ReplyDeleteEeeee! That bag is so cute!! I love it! The detail in the quilting and all the different fabrics just make it sing... Absolutely wonderful little bag. The shop is sure to sell a lot more copies of that pattern now :)
ReplyDeleteThe quilt you linked to with Kaffe and batik fabrics is beautiful. I like the backing too, and you finished it fast too!
Hi Wanda,
ReplyDeleteThat little travel bag is great (or maybe it's not so little; what size is it?)
I love the greeny-brown thread you used for the leaves and the quilting on the squares. It really ties it all together.

To The "Germany" Wanda,
ReplyDeleteWe have a Kristkindlmarkt in downtown Chicago. That is the place I go to get a real feel for Christmas with the snow and ambience of the people shopping and eating the wonderful foods.
Seeing the windows all decorated are an added treat.
Sandwich Wanda's travel bags are great and I am lucky to own one. Her sample for the store is really special.
Louise
