This is the youth division, 18 and younger. It looks like there is a trend back toward sewing and crafting for the younger generation again.
This is the youth division art entries.
And what would the fair be without the floral competition? Because it is cool the flowers are still pretty on the third day.
I was at the store in the afternoon finally getting started on that tote/purse. This is one of the new machines with the larger opening for quilters.
Look at the size of that foot control.
It's a 2 footer. It really helps your knees and hip joints to have both feet at the same level and "driving" with both feet on the foot control.
Did you ever wonder who makes all of the samples for the sewing machine stores? I did most of them for this store when I worked there and I still occasionally make things for them. The lady who took my place does the embroideries now and then I make them into little display items.
This redwork piece is one I made while I was still working there. (If any new readers are confused, I retired Dec. 31, 2005. I just fill in on emergency now).
I will be at the store again today and the fair tomorrow. My hip joints are screaming so I hope I make it through Sun. evening.

Thanks for the wonderful pictures. It looks like it was a great fair! Some wonderful entries. Boy, that foot pedal is big. I love the redwork that your made, beautiful!
ReplyDeleteThat looks like a nice machine. I'm glad they took that little wheel to chose stitches off. I keep forgetting to lock it and have broken several needles when I suddenly start to zigzag with a quarter inch foot on. Other than that I love my Pfaff.
ReplyDeleteThat Pfaff looks fantastic!
ReplyDeleteI love the quilt pics you shared -- particularly those done by the 16 and under crowd! I just had a conversation yesterday with someone who was convinced quilting is a dying art. I'm forwarding the link to this post to her so she can see it isn't!. :-)
Great fair photos... sorry about your hips!
ReplyDeleteI am SO happy here now....*S* I even had the a/c taken out of my bedroom window today - I can see the trees for a lil while before all the leaves fall.
ReplyDeleteThx for the pics from the fair. I used to love to go to the Will County Fair when I was living down there.
What do you think of the new machine? I love that foot pedal - that was a great idea. BTW, the new repair place that I took my machine too was WONDERFUL!! My Pfaff sews like she likes to now. She purrs!
ReplyDeleteOur temps have been bouncing around too - last week felt like October, today I drug out my shorts and threw open all the windows!
ReplyDeleteDon't you just love it that the sewing machine companies have finally figured out that yes, we really need more space? I've even talked to non-quilters who would happily trade up for more wiggle room.
