I just had to sneak in a photo of this beauty today. The flowers are 2 sections long. They are the largest blooms I have on any of my cacti.
To appreciate the title of today's post, you need to back to the photo in yesterday's post of the dining area with design walls. One of the ladies in today's TAW class said it was so nice to dine with fabric.....we had Kaffe, Phil, Martha, and Brandon surrounding us. The class went really well and was lots of fun for all of the students.
After the students left I unpicked more loops of my Keiko Goke TAW and tried to come up with what my center will be. I thought I might like the dark fabric making the edge to edge diamond (far left photo), but I didn't. I moved pieces until I got the white in that postion with a red, orange, and yellow center and I think I like that.
I have been looking for my Liberty Lawn fabrics and finally found the box of them last night. I had more pieces than I remembered.
This piece was also in the box. It is a lawn fabric too. I'm not positive that a couple of my pieces are Liberties but they are all the same weight and same type of print. I can mix all of these with the silky fine Italian cottons that my daughter bought for me many years ago on one of her trips.

The battle of the design walls............
Last night I was moving all of the design walls into position for the class. 2 sets of them are just stacked and need to be spread out side by side. I was shocked to find that 2 of my new 1.5" foam boards were too wide to fit into the space that two 1" fit into. The 1" boards are tongue and groove so they must be a smidge narrower than 48". The 1.5" are flat on the sides. I had to move the 2 new thicker ones from across the basement to this position in front of the fireplace and take the 1" boards that were taped together to make 2" boards from here over where those were. Also I had them cut off at 7' and the conduit pipes are a little lower than the rafters so that caused a problem. I should have done a dry run on this last week.

A day of rest.......
Yesterday was a day of rest. There was a congregational meeting after church so I got home about an hour later than usual. I did finish the stitching on the last 6 Christmas stockings I showed a couple days ago and while I watched TV last night I finished a dishcloth made with ends of 2 balls of yarn. Today is sewing circle and tomorrow is my TAW class so I needed the re-charge that rest gives.

Just playing with stash............
I need to plan ahead for another Trip Around the World quilt to use for demo in my January class. I am working with all Westminster/Rowan fabrics here, Kaffe, Phil, Martha, and Brandon designers.
Since the fabrics make a complete loop I needed to see the 2 end fabrics meeting in the center of the group too.

Working on service project........
Our church sewing circle supports the women's shelter at a mission in a nearby town. We give Christmas gifts in stockings that we make. I cut out 12 large ones for the children and 19 smaller ones for the ladies.
I stitched them with gold thread and a feather stitch by machine. The metallic thread kept breaking and finally the 4th brand is working, no shredding or breaking on 8 stockings so far. I have to have them done by Monday afternoon for our sew in at the church.
I went to Wal-m*rt yesterday morning and I checked to see if they are going to have Christmas cactus for sale this year. They had some and this is a new color that my 2 friends and I don't have. I'm calling it a champagne color because it isn't yellow or apricot. They were only $2.92 each, a steal!! I picked them up for my friends in case Wal-m*rt doesn't have any more of this color.

Stash...and night photos.........
This is the rest of the Keiko Goke fabric in my stash. I started collecting it at least 5 years ago. I need to make another quilt besides the TAW with it too.
This is a soft night shot of the pink and white blooms. They are so pretty.
It is hard to get a night shot out the kitchen window but I think you can see the opossum next to the tree. He nestled down into the leaves around it and sat there for quite awhile. Usually when the motion sensor light comes on he runs away.

Sewing strata.......again......
I got two of the stratas sewn last night. This is the Keiko Goke fabric from Japan. It represents several years of her fabric line.
I always like to pin it up with the second strata slid down by one fabric so I can get an idea how it is going to look in the Trip Around the World.
