Miscellaneous.................

As promised yesterday I took a photo of the lock screen on my cell phone with my Canon camera.  This is the close up photo of one of my Peony blooms.  Before the last update on my phone I didn't see the possibility of using one of my own photos.  Now I can enjoy the Peony year round.

For several years I have been dropping photo Christmas cards, loose photos, folders from funerals, obituaries cut from the newspaper, etc. into the top drawer in the guest room.  I wanted to find my grandparents' obituaries to see how old they were when they passed.  By the time I was done I had everything out of the drawer and sorted on my guest bed.  I have a little more sorting to do plus figuring out a system for this drawer so it won't just be layers and layers, and layers...............

Outside yesterday, I planted my little cucumber plants in a large pot and also one more tomato plant in a pot.  I cut lots of leaves off Burdock plants.  I don't have the energy to dig out their huge roots.  I also cut down the new branches of a Tree of Heaven.  I have to cut it down at least twice in the summer, sometimes 3 times.  I haven't had any luck trying to get rid of it.

I only cut a few more floral squares for the current project.

I checked out a 2 tier box as I was cleaning off a table top and it has 2.5" batik squares in one layer and 2" batik squares in the other layer.  Nice seeds for a new project.

The weather people say we might get rain overnight into this morning.  I'm hoping we get some but I think the bulk of it will go south of us and into Indiana.

  1. What a beautiful cropped picture of the peony on your lock screen. Did you discover how old your grandparents were when they passed?

  3. Perfect lock screen picture--this will keep Spring in thoughts all year round;))))
Three lovely new fabric flowers to add to your cuttings...
So far this year no deer have appeared--probably because we haven't set out any plants aka dessert for them...!!
Pouring rain here and quite a chilly wind at 47 degrees here.
Pretty dark and gloomy. I will be making us a Shepherd's Pie to celebrate the Montreal Grand Prix Race today....

  4. Woke up to rain this morning -- much-needed. As you work in the garden your mind will drift to those batik seeds!

  5. We've had rain for several days now with more on the way. Things are intensely green at the moment but it won't be long before the rains move on and the annual cycle of drying out with far less rain. Your pink peony photo is gorgeous! I have quilt and flower photos plus favorite photos of Young Man that I alternate as Lock Screen and background photos on my phone - love being able to do that.

  6. it is hard to keep track of all the obits and photos of this and that, I tend to slide them all into a box on a shelf - sometimes I wonder why I even keep them I rarely ever look at them.

  7. One of our meteroroligists reported that the Rochester area has had over a foot of rain from March thru May, only the 9th time since the late 1800's. It rained all day yesterday and several mature trees were uprooted and fallen over roads and on houses in the city of Rochester (about 25 miles from me). That peony makes a pretty lock screen photo. I have a photo of a white Lily from my garden as my background screen on my Chromebook, but haven't a clue how to put a photo on my phone screen. Not a big techie.

  10. That peony photo is gorgeous. Wonder if the online puzzle people would pay for it? Yours is certainly on par with those in their floral collections.
I may have mentioned Tordon RTU at Amazon for guaranteed tree eradication. I found years ago and swear by it. All you do is lop off the tree and dribble a bit onto the cut. It never grows back. You want to be sure to wear rubber gloves and not to spill it on other plants, but otherwise its simple as that. Pretty soon the trunk rots and all I do is break it off beneath the soil line and never even know it was there. I just checked and its available for $28 and that bottle is still nearly full at least 5 years later. No affiliation just a very satisfied customer.

  11. The screen shot of the peony is perfect for your phone, we're still getting lots of rain as well, I'm beginning to ponder the thought of bringing the big pots & soil inside to get the veggies planted 🤣

  12. I am always fighting baby oak trees the squirrels plant in my flower beds, but the hardest to deal with are the cedar elms. They take root so fast that it quickly becomes impossible to dig them out.
