This little orange basket was bugging me so I finally sorted through everything in it. In the front left is larger pieces that I'm not sure why they were in there. The pile next to the basket in the top row is pieces I will cut into squares soon. Everything in the basket is batik fabric pieces.
The pile at the top right is all trimmings from making crazy pieced blocks and some strip pieced small sections. This pile went back into the basket.
Some groups got labeled and put into zip top bags that I can keep adding to as I continue a clean up of the studio.
Earlier in the day yesterday I pulled fabrics for the other project I want to work on but I didn't get them cut. Last night I cut the Marcia Derse strips sets in half and sewed them back together for a 4 strip unit. I just need to figure out which 16 patch I'm going to make with them and I can continue on.

I’m betting the other 16 patch because you haven’t made one in a while. Wow, did the wind ever blow yesterday afternoon through midnight! There was a cardinal in the tree outside my quilt room and she stayed there a long time. I think it was too dangerous for her to attempt to fly.
ReplyDeleteYou've gotten a lot of organizing of scraps in that basket--
ReplyDelete39 here and sunny so far--they predicted rain, but we've not gotten them yet nor the winds...so far so good...
hope to finish sewing strips for 2nd blue JRJ from that one roll today...hugs, Julierose
There's a lot of happy goodness spilling out of that little basket. I giggled at the "too small to keep?" note/group.
ReplyDeleteYour ‘little’ basket sure had a lot to sort into categories ~ adding to your pellet of fabrics for an upcoming creation. I love that you save so many small scraps from left over projects.
ReplyDeleteLike Quiltdivajulie, I chuckled to see the pile labeled "too small to keep?". I've finally allowed myself to throw those littlest pieces away, although they do go in the compost not the trash. I've been bad and started 3 new projects, so the scraps are piling up. But 2 of the projects are using leftovers from previous projects, so at least I'm making progress in one direction.
ReplyDeletePat
a lot of prep work done there and might be easy to start something new with all the labels.
ReplyDeleteI saw Bonnie Hunter on a Quilt Show video and she says people send her their too small to deal with scraps. Just a thought.
ReplyDeleteI'm sure those larger pieces ended up in the basket because you were tired of making sorting decisions!
ReplyDeleteMy whole sewing room looks like a giant version of that orange basket at the moment.
