Finishes..............

Since this quilt is made with Kaffe collective fabrics, that is where I looked for the binding choice.  This one is a Brandon Mably design.

There are 3 fabrics for the backing, all leftover strips from previous quilt backs.  This is the second quilt recently that has used those strips as backs so the pile of them is getting smaller.

I'll get this quilt photographed today and share the details tomorrow.

The repairman yesterday confirmed that it is probably the igniter on the oven but he didn't have the right model with him so the part is being ordered.  The dryer was a little more complicated because the bearings were burnt out and wheels flattened so there will be lots of parts in its repair next Monday.

I photographed the Interweave blue batik quilt yesterday morning.  This post shows the beginning of this quilt and the pattern.  I didn't follow the pattern, just the general idea.  It is 54.25" x 74.25".  There are 5 different batiks for the binding.  It has Hobbs 80/20 batting in it and was quilted by Robin Diaz.

The back is 2 batiks, one the full width of the fabric (light one) and a leftover strip (dark) from another batik quilt back added to make it wide enough.

  1. Great choice for the binding, Wanda!! That Interweave quilt is really interesting...is it woven or squares cut from strip stratas? Funny because I was thinking of making a woven piece for my big Scroll just yesterday;)))
37 early this morning--and getting pretty windy....
not a good sleep night for me!! hugs, Julierose

  2. What a great binding for the Kaffe quilt. I love it when I have a eureka moment when I find the perfect fabric. Interweave is such an interesting pattern and your colors are calming. It’s 21 this morning a the air has that damp cold that gets into your bones. Can’t wait for the winter solstice so at least we’ll get more light with our winter cold.

  3. I love mixing the black and white prints with the bright Kaffe fabrics! The binding is perfect for the quilt. I am intrigued by the interweave quilt and blew the picture up to study it. It’s something I would like to make.

  4. Might it be more economical to get a new dryer? (I've had three in this house....but it's the original washing machine and I hope it keeps on going.) The checked fabric is a great foil for the floral prints. And, oh, Interweave!! Gorgeous!!

  7. That is a great binding choice. Is that little piece all that was left? It's a shame the dryer isn't going to be a simple fix.

The black/white binding was a perfect choice, too.

  9. Your post today just glistens with your creativity . Appliance repair is so good if it can be done. New appliances today are outrageously priced.

  12. Love using Babble as binding - it adds just the right amount of "sass" to the quilt. I like your version of Interweave.

  13. I bet you had some interesting conversations with your repairman….something along the lines of they don’t make them like they used to! Glad they can be repaired. Love these finishes. You always inspire me with your quilts and the lessons you give us.
