The morning yesterday was spent making a backing for an older quilt top. I'm using a full width piece and a cut away from another back for it. Now I just need to cut batting.
I have a bunch of ideas on the design wall to audition what works and what doesn't in this strippy quilt.
This is my favorite new block. The stripe is Twigs by Martha Negley so now there are 2 Martha fabrics in this project.
In the middle of the afternoon I had a PT session for my weaker leg.
I bought the Kaffe collective fabric on the right at a good sale price. I tried it for the backing of the purple Rosy and I like it. I had a 25% off birthday discount at a store that had it in stock so I ordered a little more so the whole back can be this fabric.
I finished a dishcloth last night and when I spread it out to take the photo I noticed a mistake (in the top edge). I'll probably keep this one because it might bother anyone that I would gift it to. My dishes won't care at all.

What wonderful blocks you are auditioning! So much life and colour in them!
ReplyDeleteLove your good attitude to finding an 'oops' in your dishcloth - not something that would trouble me or my dishes either, but I take your point that you wouldn't want to gift it, although I'm not sure that anyone else would notice it (or be churlish enough to point it out if they did - after all, it's a lovely handmade gift that you are giving them!).
I really like the Martha Newley Twigs fabric. I may have to see if I can find some of it.
ReplyDeleteAuto correct got me, I typed Negley
DeleteWow, your readers are up early to read your posts! The purple print is wonderful for the backing. I'll be interested to see what you choose for the strippy design.
ReplyDeleteWonderful backing fabric for purple Posy, Wanda--and no piecing needed either;))))
ReplyDelete54 here and foggy--we expect a cold front to come in overnight with perhaps a few showers, too...so a cold Turkey Day ahead...
Set up day here...
BUT, but, but--last night I was able to finish quilting around the border on "Sunrise, Sunset" and removed all the basting pins...it is next in line for trimming etc...YAY --I began hand quilting in April this year...
Hugs, Julierose
The strippy quilt is such a happy piece! That large purple print will look great on the back for Rosy. I am sure no one would ever notice the mistake in the dishcloth but you! LOL!!
ReplyDeleteThat's a great choice for the backing fabric. Your dishcloth has character and my dishes wouldn't care either!
ReplyDeleteThere are a lot of good options on your design wall and that backing fabric for Purple Rosy will be perfect. So glad you could get more of it!
ReplyDeleteLove your thoughts about your mistake in the dishcloth. Your dishes won't care!
71*F for our high today, 51*F for our high tomorrow; low tonight 36*F and for tomorrow night, 29*F.
Hugs!
Oh, I like that block too! Isn’t it great when you find a Kaffe on sale? How is PT going for you?
ReplyDeleteOops, that’s my comment……why doesn’t google stayed signed in??
DeleteYour posts are always fun to start my day. I enjoy seeing and reading about your daily progress.
ReplyDeleteI recently saw a pattern for making dish towels - have you ever made them? They looked nice but I wonder if they are good for drying dishes or hands very well.
ReplyDeleteI like your “new favorite block” 😍 Would you be able to share cutting measurements? Or did you already & I missed it. Happy Thanksgiving - Beth in AL
ReplyDeleteLove the Kaffe backing fabric. And on sale too, win/win.
