From the remaining 4 contenders for backing, I chose the fish, mainly because its best use would be a backing. The other 3 could be cut in smaller pieces for patchwork where the fish print is pretty large.
I'm getting ready to cut the purple Kaffe collective fabrics for the next Rosy quilt. This is 4 fabrics stacked and I have decided on 3" finished squares for 9" nine patches.
While cleaning off a table I found 13 pinwheel blocks. There are duplicates of some of them, 3 in each of 2 colors, 2 in each of 3 more colors, and one of the green.
I grabbed a piece of paper and sketched out an on point setting that uses 13 blocks and it will end up about 33" square. That means it will be a baby quilt or a table topper. If I find a cute black and white print for the back, it will be a baby quilt. I know I have a zebra print but I'll check to see what else I have.
I'm hoping I will have some help today to hang the Marcia Derse fabric quilt on my design wall so I can take the photos for the monthly recap.

ooh i do like those pinwheel blocks...fun times ahead!
ReplyDeleteLove, love, love the fish print. A Roses quilt in purple will be fun! And so good to use up the remaining pinwheels, you shouldn’t have any trouble arranging them with only one group of three alike.
ReplyDeleteThat fish fabric will be just perfect for the backing, I think :))
ReplyDeleteI LOVE that purple KF print. I have it a bit left in green--one of my favorites of his...
55 this morning and overcast...working on my 60th Anniversary pieces; deciding if maybe they should be a fabric book???

hat fish print is fabulous! The colors go so well with the top. Those pinwheel blocks will make a cute baby quilt.
ReplyDeleteFun post today Wanda ~ good choice for backing and the layout for your new found blocks. . . . I’m still baffled about the digital printing that has come into the world of printing fabrics.
ReplyDeleteI was thinking this morning how much I look forward to your daily dose of color before I start my workday (or weekend day). Thank you so much for taking the time to do this every day.
ReplyDeleteGood choice on the fish backing as it might well have been difficult to use elsewhere.
ReplyDeleteLove those Pinwheels and look forward to seeing how you use them!
Aren't you delighted that you have so many finished blocks stashed hither and thither for you to discover when questing for something specific? What added fun!
We've been watching the two hurricanes in the Atlantic and are happy to see them very likely to head east and further out to sea! 49*F tomorrow night.
Hugs!
I love the fish fabric, and it pairs so well with the quilt you will be using it for!
ReplyDeleteIt always find it tough to choose backing. Either the piece is too small or too large or doesn't match the color/tone at all.
ReplyDeleteI love the fish for the backing! it looks great.
ReplyDeleteI love that fish fabric and the pinwheels will make a cute baby blanket.
