I had the binding sewn onto the flannel baby quilt before lunch time yesterday. I need to take some blocks off the design wall before I can take its full portrait.
These are the blocks that need to be removed from the design wall. I added the 4 new ones so I could take a photo of all 36 blocks (one of each combination of fabrics, two alike of each are sewn). This wasn't necessarily the final layout but I have a photo of it now if I do want to start with this when I get the rest of the blocks sewn.
I got the binding sewn onto the Kaffe fabric quilt too and started the hand stitching. I have one short side and 1/4 of a long side stitched so far. I have thought of using this diagonal print stripe as a binding before but never seemed to have the right quilt for it. I think it is looking good on this one.
We got a torrential downpour for 10 minutes yesterday and it was .55" in my rain gauge. They said it would be up to 3" an hour and the storm was very long and skinny on radar so I knew it wasn't going to last very long. The rain was blowing up the street in waves and there was a big puddle in the gravel driveway across the street. Our grass is all green again after the rain we have received the last 2 1/2 weeks.

great binding choices! Luv the border on the baby quilt!
ReplyDeleteCongrats on your extra soft finish.
ReplyDeleteI agree, great binding choice for the Kaffe finish! Yay, for rain…..maybe not so much so quickly next time?!?!
ReplyDeleteI love the border for the flannel quilt, and the binding color is really pretty. Glad you are getting some rain!
ReplyDeleteI always enjoy seeing your perfectly mitered corners on your bindings. And these two quilts are no exception plus the fabrics couldn’t be any better also. And what a grand array of blocks that you removed from your design wall for yet another next quilt, in waiting or not.
ReplyDeleteThat was me that just sent the anonymous comment on bindings… I forgot to enter my signature.
ReplyDeleteboth of the bindings look great. I think that is so good that you got rain and the grass is green again. Our grass in the front is turning brown but the side and most of the back is still green - I watered the berry plants last night - I will need to keep giving them water all summer even though they have no berries to keep the plants from dying. One day in the 10 forecast there is a 25% chance of rain I hope we will not have the second have of the summer a total drought.
ReplyDeleteI like the striped binding and how convenient for it to already be on the diagonal so you don’t have to cut bias (so wasteful). Sunny here in Ireland! — Nann
