I needed to take one final look at all 11 pairs of strips to see if I needed to change anything. Then I started sewing them while I watched the first 'Tracker' show of the fall season.
I sewed 10 out of the 11 pairs. I decided to look for 2 new fabrics to pair with the 2 strips in the 11th pair. I now have 24 sets sewn which will only make 48 blocks so there will be more fabrics chosen.
I finally remembered to take some photos of the fall color in my neighborhood. This tree is straight across the street from me. There is still a lot of green on it with puffs of color arranged over it.
Looking north are 2 more colorful trees.
The burning bush in my south neighbor's yard is the earliest one in the neighborhood to turn color. I'm not sure what his front yard tree is but the leaves turn yellow and fall off rather quickly.
I walked into my backyard neighbor's yard to get this photo of her tree at the front of her lot. You can see lots of leaves have fallen from that one already.
It's only going to be in the 50s the next few days with possible frost Wednesday and Thursday mornings.
Good morning;)) 49 here today and overcast once more--
ReplyDeleteYour strip sets look like the tree photos you've shown here, Wanda.
They are so pretty...we have mostly yellows here--with a few orangey-reds...it's been so dry, I wonder if we will see a whole lot of color or not...
Hugs for a Happy Columbus Day Julierose
i love burning bush...they are so pretty in the fall....lovely pics
ReplyDeleteThose trees are glorious lighting up your neighborhood. Looking forward to seeing progress with those batiks.
ReplyDeleteThe trees are so pretty. I have a few in my back yard that are colorful and I enjoy seeing them every time I look out the windows. There were some strong winds here last night with the rain, so I suspect that a lot of leaves were blown off the trees.
ReplyDeleteYour fall color is just gorgeous! Lucky you. :)
ReplyDeleteLuving the greens! We're into cooler mornings & warmer evenings ,little spurts of color is just now starting to pop up in different places
ReplyDeleteHere in southern Oklahoma fall hasn't shown it's face.It is glorious to see the fall colors. Even in a picture, thank you. Can't wait to see what you do with the greens. Watched Tracker too.
ReplyDeleteThe fall foliage is always stunning! And so are your green batiks. Enjoy the day!
ReplyDeleteyour trees are looking very colorful - ours are drab from the drought - 58 degrees this morning
ReplyDeleteRainy and in the 40s here. The trees have not really turned yet. It was so dry, I don't know if there will be colors. Certainly love all those green batik strips together.
ReplyDeleteI always find it a treat to see photos of the fall colour, we're doing the reverse and going green!
ReplyDeleteYour strips have a feeling of autumn, lots of green with touches of yellow gold here and there. Like your neighborhood trees. Our maple tree is bare as the leaves are now in the compost pile. Our spring comes in late and our autumn starts early, here in the mountains. Still a heavy blanket of forest fire smoke in the air. Air particulate has been in the unhealthy stage for over 2 months now.
ReplyDeleteYou just have so much fun with your colors . . . your quilt certainly captures the colors found in your Autumn photos.
ReplyDeleteYour neighborhood trees are looking great!
