Yesterday I started the day by baking chocolate chip cookies. I was planning the next thing to bake when I got the news that one of the travelers wasn't feeling well so they aren't coming. (Poor photo, they look much better)
To free some space in my freezer for cookies, I baked half a package of cinnamon rolls. It was only 65 degrees inside because I haven't turned on the heat yet. We're supposed to get up to low 80s today and then only high 50s early next week. They are even talking a frost or possible freeze warning Tuesday night. I guess I'll have to turn on the heat Sunday or Monday.
Last night I looked through the shelf of 'batik quarter yard or less' for fabric for my current quilt.
I pulled these 4 to cut into 2.5" strips, one of each for the current quilt and the rest to go into one of the 2 boxes of strips.
Both of my kids celebrated 40th wedding anniversaries this year, one of them yesterday.
yes the weather is conducitve to baking...i did apple crisp and egg custard..old fashioned desserts but still good
ReplyDeleteThose cookies would have tempted me too much to freeze them. ;)
ReplyDeleteIt's perfect baking weather! Happy Anniversary to both of your kids!
ReplyDeleteColder weather always prompts me to bake us some goodies, too;))).
ReplyDeleteDisappointing that your visitors had to cancel, Wanda. You just may have to eat up all those cookies hahaha...;)))
Only 35 here this morning--the frost is ALMOST on the pumpkin for sure...Hoping to get an appointment for our flu shots today...
It feels like wintry weather is on its way...
Hugs, Julierose
And today it will be 80! But cooler this weekend. I baked a pumpkin bundt cake, using mashed pumpkin that had been in the freezer since last fall.
ReplyDeleteAlthough I am sure you would never take credit for those 40th anniversaries, it’s quite likely that your example, love, and support helped tremendously. So to you, I say congratulations on the anniversaries! And, as always, I thank you for sharing your eye candy, whether it be a finished quilt or just a stack of (curated) fabrics.
ReplyDeletecookies will keep in the freezer until they are needed. With electric heat I just switch back and forth at this time of year if I need to - shut windows and turn heat on for a couple hours and then when it heats back up outside shut the heat off and open the windows. But so far that has not been needed. Next week maybe it will be windows not open until afternoon and heat on in the morning - we will see - hopefully it will warm up fast. I hate being cold much more than being warm so I always turn it on when needed.
ReplyDeleteThe chocolate chip cookies look so good! I am sorry your company was not feeling well, but it is they stayed home. There is always another time to come and visit.
ReplyDeleteYou always seem to find treasures in your stash!
Yum - cinnamon rolls! And I agree with Sally - parental examples make a huge difference in kids' lives (marriages and so much more).
ReplyDeleteWe woke up last week to find the house at 69 degrees. We turned the heat up a bit and nothing. Luckily, we got a guy out in the afternoon to replace a small part in the furnace and now we have heat. So, I would suggest everyone try out the furnace before it's needed, just to be sure it will work when the weather is cold.

Those cookies look scrumptious and if you have any left over, I'm sure your neighbor girl of tomato fame would be happy to have some.
ReplyDeleteDelicious fabrics to use in your new quilt, too, and I like their storage label so you know about how much of the fabrics are there.
Our heat is on after we awoke to 43*F outside and 69*F inside!
Hugs!
