This quilt is quite multicolor so I'm trying several different colors for binding. This is choices 1 and 2.
Here are choices 3 and 4. I had pulled the purple dotted one last week thinking it would be perfect. Then I couldn't decide if it was too dark and looked for some other choices.
This is a cutaway piece of the backing with choices 1 and 3. I didn't make any decision yesterday. I need to get the binding cut today and start the hand sewing so I won't be rushed for an end of month finish.
This was yesterday's yield from the garden. That bowl is really small and so is the tomato. With the shades and curtains pulled to block out the west sun and heat, the windowsill was the only place to take this photo.
The Veronica plant has so many blooms. The one I had in the back garden for a few years was tall and floppy and never had more than 7 or 8 blooms. I'm really happy with this one.
The Rudbeckia plant has more blooms. This one is going to be interesting to watch to see if all of the flowers become dark or if some will stay more of a yellow/orange mix.
Today is supposed to be the hottest of the week and hopefully some rain at night.

68 here this morning and foggy..we had only about 1/4" of rain--most of the storms went North of us--as usual here!!
That Rudbeckia is so lovely--it looks like our hot days doesn't it?

My first choice was #1. But then I saw the backing and I think #3 is the winner.
ReplyDeleteYour binding choices all look great. Have you thought of using a bit of all of them for a scrappy binding? It would support the variety of fabrics.

ReplyDeleteI have been trying to figure out binding for the past two days. Made my choice and then when starting to cut it, noticed that it was horrible with the backing. So, last night, I found a weird one, but I think it will work with both sides.
ReplyDeleteThat's an usual block design, Wanda. From the 'audition' photos a multi-fabric binding would work, too.

Can’t go wrong with green! Mother Nature uses it to blend all her colors.
ReplyDeleteI like all of the binding options, but think #3 will frame the quilt best. No matter which of the 4 fabrics you choose, you cannot go wrong.

I like all of them, but my favorite is #1. However, I think that dark one looks best with the backing. And I agree it will set off each of the multiple block colors the best. I'd be too lazy to do a scrappy binding myself, but if I weren't, that would be my final choice.

Btw, I saw someone comment about her icemaker taking days to fill the tub. Had same issue a few years back and discovered it was caused by water lines freezing up. I know we turned the icemaker off for a couple days. But think turning off entire fridge for several hours ultimately did the trick. Just what you'd want to do on these days when you'd like to live in your freezer most of the day! Lol Hope this helps.

ReplyDeleteWow - I must have missed out somewhere with the arrival of the quilt to be bound - it's just wonderful, the striped KF with those narrow strip inserts works beautifully! Jumping to your latest post it's good to see that your garden and tomatoes seem to be coping with the heat, we've been hearing all about the temperatures in the USA. I've fallen in love with your little bright toadstools by the hydrangea!
