Lots of binding............

The binding on Autumn Coneflower 2 was finished about 8:30 last night.  I decided to wait until today to photograph it on the design wall.

I chose this fabric for the binding of the bright flannel quilt.  It feels like suede but is actually a twill weave cotton.  When I bought it I thought it was flannel.  It is 58" wide.

I did the binding on this one all by machine because it will likely get a lot more wear and be washed more often.  So, now I have 2 to photograph.

  3. Love the way the flower binding looks in the folded quilt picture, almost like polka dots. Binding by machine goes faster than hand sewing but it does mean arm wrestling the quilt through the machine twice…..

  4. Nothing as satisfying as binding done and a folded finish. Both look wonderful.

  5. Your binding choice is great and you are dipping into some of your more "vintage" fabric. At 58" wide, though, you have a lot left of that cut.

  9. You certainly chose perfect binding fabrics for these two marvelous quilts. I'm with you on machine quilting binding on both sides for quilts that will get lots of love and are likely to be 'over-frolicked'!!

    Well done!

Rainy day here and to my surprise, I awoke with a fever of 100.5*, then it went down and now it's 100.7*F and I feel crummy so am unlikely to accomplish much of anything today. Bother!

    Germ-free hugs!

  10. The cotton twill suede like fabric will made a nice sturdy binding for a quilt that will get a lot of use. That little print looks really good with the flannels. Congratulations on two more finishes!
