First finish for February 2024............

The scrappy batik Bear Paw quilt is finished.  I trimmed the edges yesterday and sewed the binding all by machine.  It has Hobbs 80/20 batting in it.

It is 70" x 85".  The top was finished in March 2023.

Since the top is made of many colors I decided on a neutral color backing and binding.

It was in the mid 50s yesterday, the second day in a row, kind of unusual at the beginning of February.  It's way too early for any outside work here because we will still have another month of winter.

  1. Lovely finish! When you do the binding all by machine, do you sew to the front or back first? Or do you have another magic way of doing it?

  2. I love your choice of border fabric and the way you did the sashings. We've had very mild weather here this week and rain today.

  4. Pretty! I like the light sashing between the blocks. It separates the paws but doesn't take over like dark sashing would.

  5. Gosh you are on a finishing roll for sure!! This Bear Paw is such a pretty one--love the pastel sashings--nice work!!

46 degrees here this morning took us out to the playing field trail and I was able to walk the entire circumference of .8 miles for the very first time since my H-disk happened ;))))) YAY!!
...with today and tomorrow's warmer temps and no wind we are able to walk outside--so nice to get that fresh air...
hope all is well with you--hugs, Julierose

  7. What a glorious quilt and I, too, like the light sashing and the slightly darker, colorful cornerstones. Perfect to let the stars shine and the blue batik outer border was sheer genius!

It's to be 66*F here today with rain starting soon and continuing most of the time between today and midday Monday. Great sewing weather!

    Hugs!
