The first project of the day was to find a backing fabric for a colorwash wallhanging. i looked through 2 stacks of multicolor batiks and decided on this one.
Next I cut 2 more batting pieces for quilts that are next in line.
From my kitchen window I could see some orange flowers that were taller than the Brown Eyed Susans and had to go out and investigate. There are 3 Cosmos that came up from seed. This is the same location where the Four o'clocks were but I don't see any of them this year.
I think I had several colors of these last year or 2 years ago.
On the way back to the house I couldn't resist taking a photo of the Brown Eyed and Black Eyed Susans together.
Chicago hit 100 degrees yesterday, their first official 100 degree day since 2012 and they tied the record from 1947 for that day. We only got to 93 out here in the boonies but the humidity was still very high. Today will still be pretty humid but cooler than yesterday.
that backing should go great with the color wash. The flowers all so pretty. today and tomorrow should still be hot and then Sunday to get a little closer to 90 instead of 100. Should feel better.
ReplyDeleteLovely backing for the colorwash quilt;)))
ReplyDeletethose brown eyed susans are so pretty...
93 must have felt close to 100 with the humidity!! We have a rainy morning with 68 degrees and 66 DP. This is a formula 1 weekend so I will be embroidering while watching ;)))hugs, Julierose
Our peak was 99 yesterday (heat index 107-109 depending on where in town you were). We are under a severe heat warning with temps predicted to hit 100 today and again tomorrow (real temps) before it starts to ease off. Many of the area schools are dismissing at lunchtime so the children are home before the most intense heat during afternoon when they would be riding non-air conditioned busses.
ReplyDeleteI love that backing fabric! An oldie but a goodie. I love the variety of colors and also that it’s a stripe. I love using it for binding or a piping. I think my stash of it is probably gone. Enjoy today’s nice weather! The past two days were brutal.
ReplyDeleteI know you have many quilt tops waiting to be quilted. Have you counted lately as to how many are waiting to be quilted ? A fun piece found in your stash for the backing for this colorwash and it’s a beauty.
ReplyDeleteWhat wonderful photos of your Brown eye Susan’s .

Love the backing! Somehow it looks “vintage”. Do you know when you bought it? -Roxanne
ReplyDeleteLove your choice for the backing of your colorwash quilt, bringing it step closer to completion!
ReplyDeleteYour garden is lovely. Isn't it a fun surprise to see what comes up and what doesn't. A garden mystery year after year.
Hugs!
That backing will look great on that color wash. So fun to see pictures of the flowers that you get by surprise. Your Susan’s are so pretty. The deer are destroying mine. That heat is something else! It had been so humid here, but right now I’m at one of Michael’s shows and it’s only 74 thank goodness!
