I'm continuing with the heart blocks I started last month and I'm up to 44 now and there are some ready to be cut that I will sew tonight. The blocks are 6" so right now (with 4 blocks to be added) it is only 36" x 48". If I make12 more blocks it would be 42" x 48". Or I could add a border (and only add 4 more blocks). So many decisions/choices.
I washed the batik quilt I just finished that has the warm and plush batting in it. I remember now that this batting shrinks a little more than the 80/20 batting I use most of the time. This one is really crinkly now.
I really like an all cotton batting for that very reason. I love a crinkly quilt.
ReplyDeleteThe pink blocks are so pretty! Who doesn't love the crinkly texture of a freshly washed quilt!
ReplyDeleteI know not everyone likes the warm crinkly look but I do but yes you always get some shrinkage and sometimes so much more than you expect.
ReplyDeleteSeeing more of the hearts together lets the pink really glow. What a happy quilt top it will be. Add me to the "love crinkly quilts" list, please.
ReplyDeleteLoving the crinkles!!
ReplyDeleteYour hearts are so pretty--great fabrics in this one...
20 right now with wind chill it's 12!! And they say this is just the begining--supposedly down to 0 tonight with -18 windchills...brrr...still no snow though
Have a super weekend--stay warm hugs, Julierose
I do love a quilt with a crinkly cotton batting and I also like the weight of a cotton batt.
ReplyDeleteI love those pink hearts! The crinkly quilt looks cozy.
