Yesterday I got the two packages mailed in the early afternoon and then did a little grocery shopping. Sunday was such a busy day I was ready to just veg out for a few hours yesterday.
Finally last night I chose thread and started quilting the colorwash I showed last week. I have 7 rows quilted in the ditch in one direction. There are 7 more seams in this direction. If I decide I need to quilt the other direction too there are 14 more ditches to sew in.
Now they are talking about 6 - 10" of snow starting Thursday and all day Friday. Very cold for Christmas Eve and Christmas day. They can't pinpoint exactly where the heaviest snow will be yet. They have projected 17" at O'Hare airport in Chicago. That will surely disrupt a lot of family parties.
We are supposed to get the snow and wind after you. Hopefully not- all those family plans will go out the window with the wind. I am full out working on the cards and hate being so far behind.
ReplyDeleteI can't believe you actually wrote "veg out," much less that you actually did! You always seem to accomplish so much.
ReplyDeletethat much snow at the airport will probably close it down for sure - I had two family members at O'Hare this week at different times and days and one had her flight delayed while the plane was being de-iced and the other was held up on the tarmac so long that by time they de-boarded she had ten minutes to get to the boarding gate of her next flight -- a busy time of year
ReplyDeleteYour storm is headed our way too, but it will be a rain event for us. Which is good so family can travel up to see us! You made some tasty looking treats yesterday--I have to get busy doing some baking as well!
ReplyDeleteElder son and family are to fly out Sat. morning (EARLY) and they are definitely watching the weather. Even the 2-4" predicted here would wreak havoc combined with the snow in other areas affecting the incoming flights. Fingers crossed that EVERYONE stays safe and warm (!). Congrats for getting started on the color wash quilting. I plan to pin baste a quilt today after I get DH home from his oral surgeon appointment (which looks to be the first step in an implant process from what our dentist said).
ReplyDeleteCan't wait to see your latest colorwash quilted; they are such beautiful quilts!
ReplyDeleteWe have rain predicted here, but snow to our North where we will be heading on Saturday if all goes well with DH...
Enjoy your day of rest...hugs, Julierose
I'm glad we had not planned to travel at the end of the week, for sure. But people have definitely been warned!
ReplyDeleteBaking is hard work and you have been working hard! I guess I need to enjoy the sunshine right now! I have a feeling my plans will change for Christmas. I just don't want to leave the house overnight with the temps that cold just in case.
ReplyDeleteIf anyone deserves a small break - it is definitely you! You are always busy.
ReplyDeleteOur coldest weather is supposed to be Thursday night, but then it goes on for several days. We are trying to get tender things moved inside, and the chickens are all snugged in with plastic sheeting around their pen.
We have predictions for snow later this week but I'm guessing it won't amount to much.
ReplyDeleteI love a good snow storm for Christmas if I don't have to travel.
Stay warm!
It's supposed to be really cold here on Christmas too but I think we might escape it twithought snow. Fingers crossed! We don't handle snow here as well as you do.
