The idea just popped into my head yesterday, try some of the Charley Harper bird fabric as occasional blocks with the tree blocks. I like it! Not all of the Charley Harper fabric is birds so I will be searching through my collection and see which fabrics I think will work. I'm sure I'll be repeating some of them more than once. The 2 newest tree blocks are trimmed and in the mix now too.
We won the rain lottery yesterday and had a steady soft rain most of the day and got 2.1" in my rain gauge.
This is the lonely Tiger Lily that comes up in the middle of the flower bed outside my dining room window. It is always the first to bloom. The rest are in the shade. Every year I think I will dig this one up and move it but then I don't get it done.
This shot was taken through a screen during the rain. I just love all of the new Purple Coneflowers that came up this year.

Those Charley Harper prints look GREAT in your arboretum! Perfect idea!
Great idea!
I love your 'AHA' moment - those birds look beautiful amongst your 'trees'. If it was me, I would leave the Tiger Lily in situ - your early surprise every year before the others bloom. Glad you got some rain to help make everything green again. Still hot here every day and we have a weather warning for Monday & Tuesday. I shall be indoors staying cool. I have lots of crafting to keep me busy while I listen to my audio books. Have a great weekend :)
Love the CH bird blocks! Wonderful rain - happiness.
The addition of the bird fabric is perfect. So glad you got some rain.
Great idea Wanda! I love it.
I love mixing in those Charlie Harper birds! it looks perfect mixing with the tree blocks. I always intended to get some Charlie Harper fabric and have never done so. Glad someone got rain!
I was hoping the rain I saw on radar in northern Iowa yesterday wouldn't fizzle out by the time they got to you. That photo of the coneflowers - love it! A bit of soft focus effect, and it looks like a woodland scene, even though I know you are in town.
The Charley Harper fabric with the tree blocks is a great idea!
The Harper prints are such a wonderful addition…and combining Kaffe and Harper goes well beyond a random creative spark.
CH birdies look just right among all your trees;)))definitely an "AHAH" moment.
No rain here just dry thunder clouds being swept out to sea...
Hugs, Julierose
I love the birds amongst the trees!
We all love your addition of birds amongst the trees. They make your forest come alive.
I too love song birds I feed them year round. I bet your real birds love your cone heads too.

Wanda, those Charley Harper bird blocks really make the arboretum blocks sing! I love that addition!! It is amazing that just throwing a little something unexpected into the mix can make such a difference!
Glad to hear you got some rain….they keep saying we will get rain, but when it comes, it only lasts a short while and doesn’t amount to anything.

like the qui;t love c h with them/vera.
Great idea to add the birds. They fit right in and add interest to the "forest". I'm glad you got a good rain. Our next chance doesn't come until Sunday night into Monday and it probably won't amount to anything again.

Charlie Harper plus Kaffe Fassett- mixing two of my favorite fabric designers! The mega light bulb certainly went on for you!
Love your bird addition .
So fun
I have a pink lily I need to move too but it blooms like 20 something flowers on it and I don't want to jinx it
Those bird blocks really take it to another level. Good call! The coneflowers looks like they're dancing in the rain. We got a little bit yesterday and it was glorious!
Oh, adding the Charley Harper blocks just makes the quilt extraordinary. Good idea, as usual.
Oh gosh, the Charlie harper prints really add a nice addition to these blocks!
