I sewed some more triangle blocks and then started playing with pieces for layouts. None of these are sewn together.
The positive negative layout in a quilt would give me the opportunity to have all seams nesting if I'm careful with my pressing.
Since they are all loose pieces and my sewing cabinet is piled with odds and ends I couldn't put 4 blocks together to see how they will look.
I'll do lots more sewing on this before I make any decisions.
To keep the light edges always touching a dark edge the 4 patches go in 2 different directions.
The big snowstorm hitting Iowa starting yesterday is going to miss us. We are actually getting a little lake effect snow from Lake Michigan 60 miles away.
My oldest great-grandson turns 8 today. I wonder if he wished for a snowstorm for his birthday because where he lives they should have gotten quite a bit of snow.
Great variations with these blocks!! That'll be a hard choice as they are all so pretty.
ReplyDelete6 degrees here this morning with a wind chill of 2! Brrr
Stay warm hugs, Julierose
we are still in the 40's here this morning and getting rain maybe snow tonight. Our daughter in the northern part of the state is getting snow already. We are not to get much here.
ReplyDeleteThe blocks really look good.
I really love these blocks, and the positive/negative layout should be stunning. Can't wait to see it as it develops!
ReplyDeleteThe blocks are beautiful. The positive/negative aspect makes them even more appealing.
ReplyDeleteThank you for photos of your progress today. The grays just make your rosy pinks and glowing oranges sparkle. Anxious to see this one grow.
ReplyDeleteAnother cold wintery day, here in the mountains and your photos just warm my heart.

Blogger is playing around with your emails again - this came in at 11.05pm UK time; usually here every morning. Bet you're glad you're missing all that snow. It's been cold here the past few days but no snow so far. Loving your new pink/red blocks :)
