Sewn together..............

Moving the panel of 3 stars up to the top was the solution for balance in this quilt.  I added a piece at the bottom of the flying geese and I may change it to a light color; I'm not sure right now.  This is only 53" x 63" at this point, not long enough to cover me in a recliner if I decide it is for me.

This little rail fence quilt is about 32" x 45".  Even with a border it will only need one width of fabric for the back.

I think this Brandon Mably fabric looks good with it.  Green keeps it neutral and works well with all of the colors.  I should be able to finish this top before the end of the month.

  1. i love your KF orphan block quilt! yes, i agree that you should change that bottom right triangle to a light fabric- especially since it will be only a sliver after the binding- too noticeable... and: how about a row of flying geese along the top (above the snails?) that would look good, and make the quilt long enough to cover your toes. (maybe?)

  4. Would adding another strip of fabric between the two stars that don't have it give you enough length that you wouldn't need the larger bottom piece? The large piece on the end of that column bothers me.
    Just my musings.

  6. I can't believe how wonderful all those blocks look once they are sewn together. The rail fence quilt is strong graphics.

  8. I think the flying geese column would look better with a sky-ish fabric as that bottom strip (IMHO). LOVE the way your lifted the column with the problematic top fabric. This one is turning out to be wonderful!!

  9. I’m mentally working with you on your ‘Orphan blocks’. I agree make it long enough to snuggle up in when in your recliner. If our winter travels east cold temps are on the way.

I love the precision of the pattern of your ‘Little Rail Fence’. Plus your ‘exuberant’ array of fabrics.
