You know what it is like, you move one thing and then you have to move a bunch of other things. I'm almost done...one more day.
I'm taking leftover strips from the Gridlock quilt to make some small table protectors. The finished size will be 8.5" x 11". I haven't decided if the center should be a square or a rectangle in a rectangular shape.
I brought the last of the tomatoes in from the garage. I picked all of the larger size green ones on Oct. 30th before the freeze. I read somewhere that you can just pull the plants out and hang them upside down in the garage and the tomatoes will ripen. I just broke off 2 branches of them and set them in a box in the heated garage and by golly they ripened. These are about the size of a ping pong ball and I threw away many plants just loaded with ones this size.

You had a really good year with your tomatoes.
Well, next year you will know to pull them all out and put them in the garage. Fresh tomatoes in November! You really had a long growing season! That block is so pretty!
I had not heard that about tomatoes - mine the bugs or weather usually finish them in October or September from the heat and lack of water if I don't water them enough (or I am sick of caring for them)
Another “block buster” from your scraps ~ I agree so very pretty. . . And what a fun surprise to see your November/ December tomatoes.

I never knew that about tomatoes--nice save!!
My own room is a "tip" lately--things just set down anywhere as I had to "sit" right away and not be standing around!! I am hoping to get my daughter's banner layered this afternoon...then I will enlist hubster for help in straightening out--he is very good about that...I am luck that way...

So, dear Wanda, your little 8.5 x 11 mats......... are they like a mini placemat? Or an overgrown Mug Mat? I love the idea of using orphan blocks for things like this, and often practice my VERY limited machine quilting skills and give them as pot holders. Some people, depending upon the block, use them as a little piece of art. Quite fun! And your tomatoes.........curious...... how did they taste? They look terrific.--Kaaren in CA
You provided my "learn something new every day" factoid with the tomatoes. Great plan for the leftover strips.
Love the fabrics sewn! The squirrels (grr) got all my tomatoes- green or red- so I had nothing left to bring in. We build cages for the tulip bulbs, not sure what to save with the cherry tomatoes.
There's nothing quite like a fresh homegrown tomato is there!
You certainly have the green or red thumb. We lived in Miami for 20years. I remember the last time we visited Florida we bought a large card board box of green tomatoes....Yup, they ripened nicely. xo
